Barbaranne this are very nice. I would not fret on day of the ageing of the paper, in some cases it is rich and warmed with time. It still works in these pieces. I really like still life and sometimes I forget how much. In this group of works I am particularly draw to the soft green water and foliage, very nicely done. Your work will make a very nice addition to the New Gallery. Thanks for sharing. Orange |

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments. The early sketches were, strangely, from a time when I didn't think I was artistic. It was a "known fact" in our family that I was the musical one, and my sister was the artistic one. It wasn't until I became quite ill a few years ago, and joined an art group, that I "discovered" I could paint. And I love it. I haven't painted for a couple of years now due to some personal problems, but I'm hoping to remedy that soon, as I really miss it. Yes Switch, that is Elton (from some years ago). Not sure why #12 went red x - will post it again in here and see what happens. |

Oils - This painting was inspired by a small corner of a photo my sister took. (The quality of these photos isn't very good - I think I may have to retake photos with the digital camera, as these photos were taken a while ago with my old SLR and scanned.) |

Having discovered pastels, I found I really loved their colour and texture, and the way you could use coloured paper to add to the effect of the painting. |

This was a sketch (another old one) I did from a newspaper photo of a missing girl. |

This is an oil painting of my niece - I did this one as a wedding present for her. |

This is my pride and joy - my first, and favourite, portrait. He has pride of place on my lounge room wall, and despite a couple of offers, he is not for sale. From the moment I painted him he has had a special place in my heart. He is no-one I know, just a picture from a magazine, but I feel like I know him. |

Oh Barb...you know i'm already a big fan of your artwork...so glad you decided to display it here..........your portraits are amazing!...so so difficult to paint people, oh and you just do it so easily...the way you capture natural light in your work is oooh just mesmerising I can just look and look.......those faces just jump out of the canvas. |

Oh Barb, i did read in one of your posts that the quality of the paper had deteriorated...you can buy a can of art sealant for paper ( it's flexible) from your art store...oh i cant remember the name of it now, but you spray it on, it will stop that yellowing any further and keep the paper from going brittle. |
