I think this is an interesting idea, but I put as much stock in the group observance in this manner as I do with the wooden board and planchette - not much. Although, I have had an episode with friends that I cannot explain to this day. One of our party was moved out of his chair and to the floor against the wall several feet behind him. Other than creative acrobatics embellished by fear, I have no acceptable answer, but I do believe that the pointer was shifted by people not spirits... melodramatic types... why should they pass on an opportunity to play 'victim' to ghosties, eh?
My sisters had a ouija board. I grew up with it in my house when they left it behind with other hand-me-downs. I got rid of it! Well I passed it off to my nephew - no idea where it is now. I knew better than to attempt destroying it and pissing anything off by doing so... no way.
I do, however, believe in ghosts and random (or not-so-random) spots of anomalous (sp?) energy. Orbs, stone recordings, electronic voice phenomena ... things like this where the energy is not seen by the human eye (usually)... are in some way able to be tapped and do exist. We could say television doesn't exist, but for the fact we have devices capable of translating the energy, likewise radio and infrared and ultraviolet light... all forms of frequency and energy. We do have equipment capable of carving these things out of the ether to translate into something our basic senses can understand. Why should 'spirit' energy be different?
As for the name the iPod picked out and the seemingly appropriate song choice - I go through entire days podless and marvel at the randomness of events like this-
thinking of folks and they call
think of a name at random for a new character and I'm introduced in some fashion to someone with that name that same day (on occassion it's been a very close resemblance to first and last name at once)
think of a number and it appears in abundance in minutes
think of an event and a similarly appropriate song comes out of the station hopping when I'm in the car... (unlike on the iPod that is loaded with a predetermined and familiar song list)
... I would like to think that this happens to everyone a great deal of the time.. um... doesn't it? (maybe I really am a freak... *shrug*)
