Lady Autumn
Shall I remember her this way?
With October’s brief morning sunlight
Brushing bright yellow highlights
Through the burnished copper of her hair?
For me, she wears her best and finest.
A farewell quickening blaze of colours
That fears nothing save but for myself.
She has never been more beautiful.
“You always knew that I must pass?
While her voice slides across the sun,
The fading sky of her knowing eyes
Locks with mine across the pale morning.
She winks and says, “Remember me this way.?BR>As she turns and twirls her cloak of leaves,
Each season smiling in her swirling dress.
Bright memories in her shining hair.
I remember her this way.
With October’s brief morning sunlight
Brushing bright yellow highlights
Through the burnished copper of her hair.
