Lead Me
Lead me to the peace
of the quiet sparkling water.
To the breezes of the days
and buttercup summers.
Lead me through meadows
of sunlit dappled memories
and the golden wine
we sipped in better days.
Lead me like a ghost
to the memories I still haunt
the faces well remembered
the perfumes that still smell
The words that once were whispered
I can read them in my mind
as my ethereal presence
cannot leave them far behind.
Lead me through the days
of roses and sweetness
Of laughter and romance
Of when that never was
But lead me
deceive me
give me my moment of sweet pleasure
before the dawn.
