The rain came down
falling on the sad pavements
the cheerful streets
look grey and stony
in its sightless fixture
the flowers drooping under the refreshing weight
The wind picks up
a gentle reminder
that this is just the beginning.....
A sea of umbrellas
pass
hiding the faces
of the strangers passing
from the misty windows
of a half empty tea shop
full of blue rinses
and shopping gossip
and trickling coats
and wet carrier bags
Damp dogs
sit outside forlornly waiting
for their owners return
and the possibility of tit bits
Puddles are splashed
by nearside tyres
and under fives swinging
duffle coated and booted
on the arms of tired young mothers and grannies
scurrying home
The hot tea arrives
with the scent of cinammon cakes
and all is restored
all is perfect
harmony
Wet & dry.

You have an excellent eye Mark, and understand how to reproduce all you see onto the page....even if it is all in your head ? Again, wonderful detail and an almost touchable atmosphere. Good poem. : )

'and life goes on' is what I hear in these simple words of observation, Mark, just another rainy day (Hey, I like that as a title! for me I mean, lol) I enjoyed your poem, Zy
