This WW2 German War Merrit Cross was taken from a German PoW again, by my Uncle, George Allen, sometime after D-Day, 1944. As you can see, the swastika was scratched off by the PoW, as he was trying to convince my Uncle that he too, was just a German soldier, and not a NAZI. I guess they all feared for their lives. This along with many things was mailed home to my Dad back in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada |
