I have a could of craft fairs coming up in lat October and would like to try these out as a cash and carry or pre-order type item.  These do go in the Small batter bowl right??
How much have you charged for them?
Which mixes have sold the best
Minestrone Soup
Cowboy Chili
Celebration Cookies - I am going to try a variation with White chocolate because it has become so popular  Might even sample these at the shows

My director said the brownie mix recipe was a thumbs down - I will concentrate on the other ones

I purchased my ingredients for Wal-Mart yesterday. M&M's in the baking section were $2.23 for a 12 ounce bag, the White Chocolate Chips are $1.33 for the store brand and Wal-Nuts were $2.46 for a 8 ounce bag. Depending on how many you want to do, you can do several and not spend a whole lot for ingredients.

I haven't tried the brownies yet, but my director said they were a bit on the salty side.  I really think you could use any cookie or brownie recipe though.

I read some posts on CS that we are not allowed to do this according to HO.  Has anyone confirmed from HO if this is allowed?

Thanks! I found the directions and tags! We can't have a make-and-take party
doing batter bowls? I wouldn't understand why not? I think it's a great way
to give customers a different kind of party!
Thanks!

We CAN do parties like this.  I think it's the question about whether we can sell something like this that HO may not approve of.  They have to worry about so many other things when we're selling things that are not packaged and sold through PC.

HO has been terrible about answering my emails lately and I'm not getting much more help on the phone.  (not regarding this issue but another)  But that's the only way to know if it's ok to do at a booth is to contact HO.

No one really answered the Brownie question so I will give my opinion.
The brownies were to me really bad.  I personally think it had to do with the cinnamon in the mix.  Also I haven't tried to make anything else but if you aren't really careful the ingredients shift during travel and it isn't as pretty as you would think.

At the fair I would have several different mixes to show what they look like.  Then have a "sale" on the sm. batter bowls if they buy so many.  You can reduce the price and give them the directions on how to make them.  Have tags already printed out to give to the people who buy the bowls.  Then place and order for it.  Your other option may be to have preorders at the fair and tell them when you expect them to be in and have them come to your house to pick up and make the bowls.  That way it feels like less work but you aren't as liable for selling food products.  Also you can have another station or two with tools they may not have thought of and maybe get a whole nother show out of it.
Thanks so much for these ideas as I have plenty of fairs to do this season.  Northern states have a lot of thier fairs during the summer.  Here in Florida it is too hot so most of the fairs we have are during the spring/fall.  Great way to get holiday shopping orders.

Thanks
Tiffany

That's a GREAT idea Tiffany!  And less inventory I have to worry about stocking up on!!!  LOVE the idea of having the gift tags made and ready to give out at time of purchase!

I think you've just solved my inventory dilema!!

Since the company gave us the recipes and the ideas for the Batter Bowl gifts I don't think there is a problem with having a party to make them.  I think having them made up and selling them with the ingredients in them at a fair would be an issue (health dept regs, etc.)
I did the cheese tortillini soup one and everyone said that it was good.  (Makes a large amount).  I had one person make the Brownie mix to give away.  I didn't hear if it was good or bad!

We aren't allowed to sell products for more than we pay for them but there is no rule that I know of that says we can't make a gift package out of them and cover our costs for the added ingredients.

If you make these to take and display or to give away, make sure you pat down each layer really well.  This will reduce the amount of "shifting" during transport or gift giving.  The best way I found was to use our Meat Tenderizer (the flat side).  The circular design makes it easy to get all around the inside of the bowl.
