Sprouts Speed Up & Clean Up Tips

Speed Up Your Computer

Minimize this window, so you can have it handy to read while you work. You can maximize it when you need to read it.  Or Print these instructions!

Right Click On MY COMPUTER. (on the desktop)

Click On PROPERTIES.

Select DEVICE MANAGER.

Click on the Plus sign next to the "Ports (Com & LPT)" entry.

Double-Click COMMUNICATIONS PORT. (Mine has two communications ports, I set them both)

Click on the "Ports Setting Tab". (Change the Bits Per Second, to the highest possible setting, which should be 921600.)

Click O.K. on the boxes that came up

You should find that your loading speed has greatly increased.

NOTE: If you have problems connecting to your ISP after making these changes (the speed may be to great), lower the setting one setting each time, until you can connect with no problem. This should increase your page loading time. Great for dial-up modems. This is for Windows 98, and it works great at this speed. But all computers are different. Hope it works for you the first time so you won't have to go do it again and again. If you don't like the settings, then you can always put it back the way it was at the onset.
