Hi Paul, I was wondering if you could contact Gingernut for me. He died of a severe and sudden illness a long time ago, I was about 9ish. The reason is that the day before he died we were at the vet and he was feeling Gingernut's tummy, nothing too scary about that, but then I passed out, fell part way then went stiff and fell right to the floor. I was out about 30 seconds and had wet myself. Now whenever I go into a vet clinic for any reason I go dizzy and if I don't get out into the fresh air I pass out. Does this have anything to do with what was wrong with Gingernut? I didn't know who else can help me. (Doctors did all kinds of brain scans on me but all normal) Thanks for your time. Hi Firstborn, I don't think what happened to Gingermut had anything to do with you. What you describe is a typical seizure and all disorders are not identified by a simple brain scan. Some require drilling holes in the skull and inserting probes. These are called deep tissue seizures and I have a good friend who suffers from these. Not trying to say you have this problem, sounds like you don't, but just informing you. Gingermut indicates that it was time for him to cross over. I am thinking he had a heart problem from the indicattions he is giving me or perhaps an aneurism. Paul |

Hi Paul, thank you heaps. We never found out what was wrong with Gingernut. He was away form home longer than normal for him and when he came home he vomited. We thought he had been poisoned. As for the deep tissue probes I think I'll pass. No-one's drilling a hole in MY skull. The fainting isn't really a problem for me anyway as long as I avoid going to the vet and I don't have seizures any more. Mum says I used to go blank and stare into space for as much as two minutes but havn't since I was a kid. I don't even remember it. Thanks again for contacting Gingernut. He was very special to me when I was little. Love and Light Firstborn |

Hi Firstborn, Your symptoms, going blank and staring sounds just like my friend. He would go blank and then just stare, but as you say he hasn't had a seizure since he got a bit older. He is in his mid 20's now. Paul |

I get dizzy and turn white in vet offices as well as regular doctor offices and hospitals within a few minutes. I thought it to be the smells and mental images of sicknesses that start creeping up in me. Once those images start, I think my nerves start overworking & I get white as a ghost and I need fresh air or I'll be on the floor like a rug. It started happening when I was a teenager. For years I struggle to hang in the doc's offices then politely excuse myself to the restroom. In there, you'll find me on the floor with my feet up on the wall to get the blood circulating to my head! Oh what a sight I must be! DeniseNH |

If we assume it was a seizure... To me it sounds like since you had that first, scary experience IN a vet's office, your mind is associating it with happening there.e As you say it's not an issue unless you go to a vet's. But what if one time you HAVE to go to a vets? Perhaps many times? For instance, I have many pets, and as they got old I had to go more and more. It would have been intolerable. I would suggest talking to a counsellor who can help you discuss what happened, and also to work on techniques to help you get over it. Linda |
