Brownie says it isn't time yet, but I sense that she will let you know soon. She is hanging on for some reason that she won't tell me.

update on brownie I made the decision to let her go on 10-31-06 I dont know if I made the right choose or not but I didnt want to see her suffering anymore it hasnt hit me yet that shes gone for good my sons the one who took her in and buried her before I got home I still dont know why she hung on so long I miss her so much we have had her for 14 years she was 1 or 2 when we got her we got her from the pound and when I chose her they told me she wasnt a good chose that she woulnt make a good pet but I looked into her eyes I saw something I told them that I want her only shes turned out to be the greatest dog very protective of the family and never even bit any of the kids or grandkids even when they terrorized her she would put up with kids even learning how to pull up and walk on her babies sitting on her she never had puppys I think thats why she was so good with the babies every time we had a new baby in the house she would not leave there side when visitors came over she would not let anyone outside the family even tryed to touch them she would growl and snap at them in that way she had lots of babys  I think its starting to hit me as Im writing about her brownie you will be missed baby love you   you can still watch over the grandbabys that are on the way

You did the right thing, nanaleah. I think our "gut" tells us the right time, even when our hearts try to tell us otherwise.  It's like with me putting my Chopin to sleep last week...I just didn't know what to think, and hoped he could bounce back.  I really do think that deep down I knew it wouldn't happen and the state he was in, it would be the best thing.   I was very upset, and kept asking him and telling him I didn't know what to do, and I think by showing me a few things (his failing abilities) right then and there, he was trying to physically show what I think he was emotionally conveying...if that makes any sense.

There never is a good time, and it's never easy.  Over the years, I've had to ask the vet to put down many old, sick pets.  Even though there had been no recovery possible, it was never easy to do.

Sending you big hugs, and wishes that you get through this time with ease.

nanaleah,
I contacted brownie and she was grinning, out of pain and leaping about to display this.
She is fine, watching over you and the babies. I asked if she had finished her "work" and she nodded. Says you knew the right time, just as she knew you would. Sends her love to all.

Oh my gosh, isn't that curious!  I was just reading the thread again, and missed this post the first time -- that's JUST like me talking to Chopin and him communicating physically!

Pets are so wonderful......
