Can anyone tell me the properties of petrified wood?

Does it have any other names?

I was very drawn to it at a psychic fair last week and bought a HUGE chunk! It is a heavy piece!

I really felt like I needed to have this humongus rock, LOL, so now its in my dining room.

I have a feeling that grounding is one of the motives for this stone. Can anyone elaborate on it?
