Does anyone know where I can donate my magazines to overseas personnel? I used to work with a woman who took them and sent them to her sons' troupe in Afganistan, but I don't work with her anymore. If anyone has an address/name, I would gladly send our magazines over. Hubby gets tons of them - muscle, Maxim, cars, misc, etc. Thanks, DeniseNH |

Denise I think that is a great idea ,but havent any idea who does it . I would assume it would be a bit expensive sending them by mail. you might contact the USO and find out. If this is not possible and you just want to recycle the magazines or books. you might donate them to your local county jail. or youth atthority I have done that and it is really appreciated I especially like to donate to the youth athority because it just might start some of the kids reading which is a good thing. time member until my luck went south on vacation
Now the good lord had blessed me.

Ironically enough (if that’s what people want to
believe) I work for a magazine distributor I was wondering if
that was what your husband did as well
If you get a chance and want more information
Please feel free to contact me but please use the following address
I have a few phone numbers I can give you and a
couple of websites as my company is doing just that and looking for volunteers
to help
by the way my name is

Hi Jim, No my husband isn't any retailer. He just gets a lot of subscriptions. I did find a website that was extremely helpful and I'll list it here for everyone to try if they are interested in being penpals with a serviceman/woman. www.anysoldier.com is great. You can choose any soldier by sorting them out several different ways - where they are from, m/f, last name, branch of service and many other ways. We chose a person from our own state who had both male and female people under their direction. We are starting out with a letter with hopes the person will have the time/opportunity to write back, but it's no guarantee because they are currently in Afghanistan. Anyway, it's a great site, and if you click on the 'Where to Send' button, you will get your list of contacts. It emails you the address of whom you choose and you can begin writing. We are starting with letters and I am enclosing a self addressed envelope with an extra piece of paper so it would be easier for them to write back to me. I thought that would be helpful. Thanks, DeniseNH |

Are you in canada? I have info for canadian shipments. Also any legion will ship stuff for free to the troops. You can also call any base and find out there shipping here i ship my brother inlaws military number and the address is actualy his base in ontario then they ship it from the base where they do there security checks with it. takes 14 days for them to get it in afganistan. You need to make sure the content of the box is listed clearly on the box. kinda takes the fun out of it but its rules. Nothing that melts :( or glass. is one big thing i was stressed. Norma |

Hi MamaisBoss, I chose a soldier from www.anysoldier.com. That website has a lot of info and I did learn that you HAVE to have a person's name on the package in order to send it to any troups. But anyway, the above website is very good. I didn't know that about the legions, and I will check them out also so thank you for that info! |

I been shipping boxes to troops for months, mainly my brother in law. Legion has been awesome free of charge they ship. I don't know if all legion's do it but both chapters in my town will. something to check into help with shipping fee's My brother in law i usualy send alot and he shares, hard candy is really loved because alot of the men and woman out there love to pass out candy to some of the kids they end up meeting on there patrol road or near by villages. The little kids love to run up to the troops i'm told. I've even sent letters from my children to troops wishing them all good health. Thats why i asked if you where in Canada or U.S in Ontario you use there military number instead of there name. I'm not sure why. Perhaps to protect there identity? . Its been like that for all my family and friends with there tour of duty out there. Your doing something very nice wanting to ship them stuff. My brother is law tells me some of the men don't get nothing from family. Must be hard for them to watch others get boxes. Norma |
