I have a question that I'd love to hear all of your opinions on.

I've had a recent influx of situations hit my life lately as we all do at times.  However, someone said to me, "You're having all of this bad luck because of what you do.  Being psychic and doing psychic readings is bringing negativity into your life."

Now, this person isn't religious so, this is not a typically held religious belief and I really don't fully know where this is coming from within that person, themselves.  However, I have heard from a few other psychics who have made this their career, that they, themselves had a great deal of turmoil flood their lives when they took this on as a career and did it full time.  Some had personal catastrophes happen, some became ill themselves.

Question.....what do you, personally feel about the idea that doing psychic readings can bring "bad luck", "bad karma" or just attract negative happenings in a person's life?  Do you believe that it is causing or attracting these things?  If so, has it happened to you since you've delved into the paranormal more than usual?

I'm interested in hearing what you all have experienced or witnessed of those that you know who do psychic readings or delve into the paranormal.  And, what have you or they done about it?

Love and Light,
Louellen

Hi Lou,
I think my response is long overdue so here we go. First part - is this "bad Karma" - You know as a Buddhist I ama firm  beleiver of Buddhist Karmic theory and things happened to me personaly to trust that theory. However in America and West karma taken as fatalist theory and most people do not beleive it (Perhaps like Angelica on second message).
Fisrt of all - Being a psychic or doing a reading  would not bring any Bad Karma -that's false and person who said that had no underdstanding about Karmic theory I would say.

Karma is 3rd of 5 governing orders , why things happen around us and giving a reading would surely may have certain reaction from the spirit and person connected on this side but will not bring bad karma on you.
Please see the end of the message about karmic law -I  am not going there any further.

Now the second part - in my healing sessions as Searching said and limited contacts I maid to other side gave me a certain warning about negative energy levels. I was talking about this earlier in this forum about 4 years ago and few disagreed with me. I still have the same opinion. Negative energies do exist in the form of spirits and in other forms. Its is not a bad luck. You remember E-Cahew (Michele) send me a protection prayer to get protection from ArcAngel Micheal   and you adviced me to imagine white light around me and the house before doing readings. I used  those tactics early on and since then I found very powerful Buddhist script - a protection prayer - written some 2 thousand years ago which one should get protection in case coming contact with other worlds. I use that now and "touch wood " no problems. I use Prayer from Michele as well at times depending on circumstances.

In my opinon - these bad energies and low level spirits can bring bad balance, bad atmospehere around you, make arguements in the house, make people do strange things as well as make people to kill. The last one - kill - the person affected most probably will have low mind power and negative energy can easily hold onto them. I firmly in  the beleive they do exist and when while doing a reading these energies can try to gain some advantage.  So your protection is  first priority whenever you do a  readings etc - however most psychics eager to please the clients -very often forget the basic rules and invite good and bad energies and I have seen it.
Next thing is  people been misrepresented about spiritual contacts by lot of TV shows like John Edwards, Sixthe sense with ..etc. All this TV serials  only show good spirit contacts and good side. All loving and good masters. Amazingly no one contacting bad irritating ones. They all put away nicely. That is mileading. You must know after all very well what I am talking about. You are better than me on connecting to otherside. (why on earth I am looking for other medium to connect some times- I asked you recently even - to be on the safe side.- better 2 than alone)

Now the final part fo this long reply - I wanted to remind you some thingss I said some time ago. When I was doing a healing session for you I said that small problem in your neck will vanish but since then it came back and you are worried this may be cancer. Fisrt of all cancer is happening because of bad food, (i posted some thing about processed meat other day) and many other reasons but not because of Karma. Karma is nothing to do with the people getting cancer people. Don't blame it. People do not want to admit they were not careful in their life styles.

I said few years ago I have seen that you were the leader of a native American tribe and  Frank (ghost hunter), few others from BTV and I were with you at the time. You have killed people so as I, myself. You had a wound in your neck from a sharp object like a spear. This is haunting you right now. I just cannot think this is cancer but  I think that wound still there to a certain degree mentally and I cannot see it's getting activated.

If you will be having cancer on the neck (After the next test you will  know I think) I will be proved wrong but I will gamble on that.

Love and Light

ANNEX: According to Buddhism, there are five orders or processes (niyama) which operate in the physical and mental realms.
  1. Utu Niyama - physical inorganic order, e.g. seasonal phenomena of winds and rains. The unerring order of seasons, characteristic seasonal changes and events, causes of winds and rains, nature of heat, etc., all belong to this group.
  2. Bija Niyama - order of germs and seeds (physical organic order), e.g. rice produced from rice-seed, sugary taste from sugar-cane or honey, peculiar characteristics of certain fruits, etc. The scientific theory of cells and genes and the physical similarity of twins may be ascribed to this order.
  3. Karma Niyama - order of act and result, e.g., desirable and undesirable acts produce corresponding good and bad results. As surely as water seeks its own level so does Karma, given opportunity, produce its inevitable result, not in the form of a reward or punishment but as an innate sequence. This sequence of deed and effect is as natural and necessary as the way of the sun and the moon.
  4. Dhamma Niyama - order of the norm, e.g., the natural phenomena occurring at the advent of a Bodhisattva in his last birth. Gravitation and other similar laws of nature. The natural reason for being good and so forth, may be included in this group.
  5. Citta Niyama - order or mind or psychic law, e.g., processes of consciousness, arising and perishing of consciousness, constituents of consciousness, power of mind, etc., including telepathy, telaesthesia, retro-cognition, premonition, clairvoyance, clairaudience, thought-reading and such other psychic phenomena which are inexplicable to modern science

Dew.......HUGS!!!!!!!

YES, you did get me to see something that I didn't really recognize fully within myself!   I thank you so very much for that!   I knew it was there but, I didn't really think that it was having the effect on me that it was.  It took you, being several thousand miles from me (bodily anyways LOL) to come through and see that and bring that out for me to see.  Again, I thank you!!!

And, I love your "oxygen mask" comparison!  Thank you for reminding me of that as well!

I will try to find that book on Elizabeth Kubler Ross's mother as well.  I think that I am spreading a lot of love to others but, not accepting it myself, for myself.

One thing that I can tell you is that this thread has been the best thread that I've ever started as it's shown me love from all of you!  I'm not very good at accepting help but, this has done more for me than anything else for a very long time!

By the way, I'm so glad to see you back around again!!!  Even I disappeared for a bit there (in posting...I still came in and read and kept a check on things) just because I was really very time challenged but, getting back in here over the past couple of months again has really proven that we ARE a "family" and very connected even though we all live in different parts of the world.  It seems that geographical distance doesn't separate us as we "feel" one another.  Even a lot of the early group members are coming back again.

We may stray into Life for a bit but, it proves that there's a tie here that keeps us returning whenever we can.  Kind of like a "Homecoming"!

HUGS, Dew!!!!!

Louellen

Searching.......I know so well what you mean about wanting to say something and finding out that after writing a very long and heartfelt answer and hitting the "send" button, POOF...it disappears into cyberspace.  I now, copy it before I try to hit send so that if it does disappear, I still have it as typing it all over again seems like a daunting task!  Even THEN, I find that it won't go through and at that point, I recognize that it may be a sign that I wasn't meant to post my answer/response at that point.

You know, I feel rather silly in posing my problems on the boards here.  I normally don't like to impose on anyone else as there are always people who are far worse off and in far more dire straights than I am and need help more than I do.  I think that I'm just feeling far more vulnerable right now than I usually do.  Perhaps, it's a pile of things that I've not dealt with and have piled up or, perhaps, there is reason and a lesson for me in finally breaking down and asking for some help??  Perhaps, I am meant to know that it's ok to be human and have problems too, as you've pointed out so nicely and wisely!    I tend to think at times that I'm not supposed to need help but, to give it to others.  At this point, I guess finding out that I am not a machine and I do need help is what I'm supposed to learn.  And, equally, (towards a point that you have made in saying that this person injected negativity and fear at a point where I needed encouragement) I guess that I'm also to learn that, as Dew has said, sometimes, I need to take care a bit more of myself because there are people out there who will not care about someone else.  I'm sure too that this person didn't mean it maliciously or, to do upset me intentionally.  I'm sure that they thought they were helping me in some odd way.  And, again, normally, I would have brushed it off and aside but, FEAR crept in because I am already fearful of the outcome of especially, my health issues, having watched and cared for both of my parents as they died of "oddball" cancers.

I'm going to be open here with everyone in telling you a story and an admittance of my own fears.  When my mother died at 54 years of age with a malignant brain tumor, she foresaw it many years before.  She was also psychic and an extremely wonderful Medium who never used it for money or a career but, could have.  She worked as an opthamology nurse for years before I was born.   The singer, Tony Bennett was one of her patients.  Anyways, as I was growing up, my mother's eyesight deteriorated in natural progression like everyone else's.  She needed glasses but, stubbornly refused to go and get checked for a prescription.  I needed glasses too and I begged her to go with me and get her eyes checked.  She wouldn't.  I finally asked her one day why she was so frightened of having her eyes examined and a prescription for glasses???  Was she that vain that she'd not wear glasses??  Her response made me laugh.  She simply said, "I won't let them find a brain tumor!"  And, that was the end of the discussion.  I never really understood that until, of course, after her passing but, even years later, as I was an adult, she still wouldn't allow an eye examination as she somehow knew that there would be a brain tumor.  In 1986, she died of a brain tumor.  A very rare one and one that the neurologist and neurosurgeons had only seen one or two cases of in their entire careers.  Was it a premonition or self-fulfilling prophecy???  I am not sure which it was.  Again, she was 54 when she died.

The tie-in for me, comes from the idea that since her death some, 22 years ago now, I have feared dying at the age she at which she died.  I can't say that it's a "premonition" such as she had about her brain tumor.  It's likely more of a fear.  However, being 52 years of age now, myself, I am fearful that this MAY have been a premonition of my own rather than just a fear???  I don't know.  The fact remains that thyroid cancer is not a very common cancer, although it seems to be one that is growing in commonality even though not as much is known about it as it is with other forms of cancer.

I've never admitted this to anyone before....so, why not do it publicly for everyone to see LOL????   So, there is my weakness and my vulnerability for the most part, right there.  That is why I am so "tied up in knots" so to speak, over this entire thyroid thing.  If I am supposed to learn to be more human, I may as well do it here and now!   I don't know why I am even admitting this so openly here but, this has spurred on a freedom to admit it openly.

And, yes, the same thing holds true for me as well.  When I'm ill or in emotional turmoil within myself, my abilities also diminish to some degree or another which is why I've taken a bit of a rest from doing consults for the past few weeks.  I don't feel that it's fair to my clients to read without having full "powers".  I'm not able to give my best right now and only my best is good enough for me to give.  That's ticking off a lot of my "regular" clients but, well, I can only hope that they will understand that I don't feel right about not giving them my very best and I cannot do that at this moment.  I know my limitations with my abilities.
So, you are right....when I am calmer and at peace, my abilities return to normal and I happily do readings as you have found with yourself.

Thank you Searching!  You have also gotten me to open up!  More than I expected to but, since it's typed in....it stays now!

Love and Light,
Louellen

Voyager.....I know that you are right about the entire "bad Karma" thing and readings.  I really do know, deep down inside that it's not the cause of what is happening in my life and my health.  I think it was a moment of weakness that hit a fear in me as I've described in my response to Searching in my post above.

And, yes, oh yes, I can so agree with you on the part of spirits that are not exactly "loving"!  They do exist and I have captured a couple during EVP tapings.  I've also encountered a couple of them during consultations.  They have come through loud and clear and figuratively, sent me on my rearend.  They are no joke when you encounter one of them!  And, you're right, not protecting oneself during readings of any kind is commonly forgotten while wanting to please a client!  I am so guilty of doing that.  I do white light myself but, often not as carefully as I should be doing.  I have a prayer that I do before each consult but, perhaps, it's not as effective as I need it to be and I may need to switch.  If you don't mind and can, I'd love to see the older prayer that you have used??  I have cut WAY back on the Mediumship readings over the past few months.  Many of my clients prefer the psychic readings anyways but, I was also finding that the Mediumship readings were very draining on me in so many ways.

Just this past weekend, I did an interview for some journalist students at a local university.  They asked about Mediumship readings and I was telling them that I had cut back on them as they are draining.  They asked me if I still got spirits anyways during readings.  Very often I will and I give whatever information I am getting from them for my clients if they pop in and are persistant.  I won't pass off a message for someone if a spirit truly lets me know that they are there.  I do feel better and more energetic since I've cut back on them.  As I said in a post above, I think Myza also had some problems when he first went professional with his Mediumship readings.  I believe that he pretty much concentrates his readings on Mediumship???  (He can correct me if I'm wrong on that.  Wonder if his ears are burning since his name has been brought up several times now in this thread?

And, THANK YOU Voyager for giving me your intuitive thoughts on this NOT being cancer!  I am so hanging onto hope that it's benign!!!   I do hope, as you've said that it's due to a past life thing/scar that has been carried forward into this lifetime.  I am certainly not killing anyone in this life!   I'm trying to do just the very opposite!  HELPING!  I do remember you saying that quite sometime ago.  I can only hope, as you've said that it's not being "activated" in this lifetime.

Thank you for including the Karmic Laws above in your post above.  I'm not sure that I understand them fully at the moment but, I am going to go back over them and, I'm sure it will make sense.

As for long posts........hey, you're talking to the QUEEN of long posts!!!   How often have you known me to be "short"???   I thank you for taking the time to do this!  I know that you're busy.

HUGS V!!!!  You know I luv ya!  And...btw....I have my Agni Gods up on the front and back of my house still!  They face the street and the street facing my back door.  We have neighbours who are Sri Lankan and they chuckle and smile whenever they pass by and see them.  They said that they didn't know that anyone here would know about them, except for other Sri Lankans.  I had to tell them I was introduced to them by you otherwise, I'd not have known about them at all.    They have become my "friends".  They make me smile and I think of you whenever I am walking up my pathway.

Hi Lou,
Dew is right on about fear isn't it. I just read his , searchings and your replies. I have not mailed Dew for a long time and I think he has developed abilities of his own. I can see from his posts. Searching is always a calming presence don't you think.
Any way I am busy - you are right. But I cannot let go of this. ( That's why I sent you that email month ago).
Any way that script or Prayer:
It is in Pali (It's an ancient language like hebrew)  I don't know whether you can read it properly with right rhythm. I am not strictly of Christain Faith but I use Protection prayer of Archangel Michael. So I think you ca use this prayer even though it is Buddhist) I guess.
Should I email or type here so others can get it as well.

V..........yes, I agree that I think Dew has developed quite a bit since we last talked!!!  So have you!!!

I am glad that you didn't let it drop and did email me and have posted here, on this thread.

And, yes, Searching is always such a calming, loving and caring influence that I love having her around...not just for me of course LOL...but, for everyone as she helps so many with her loving, kind, encouraging and very soothing, well thought out words!

You're right about me pronouncing the words in the right rhythm.  I am having trouble with speaking English lately!!!   But, I think that everyone here would love to see this prayer, IF you have the time to type it out and only WHEN you have time!  Don't put anything else aside though.

I will also as E again for that prayer from St. Michael.  Oddly enough......the HOSPITAL that I'm going to for my testings and possible surgery is called.....ST. MICHAEL'S!!! LOL  Coincidence???

Thank you Voyager!!!

Dear Lou,

Yes, I didn't do much.  But I was able to do the LITTLE right thing - shake you up, to wake you up.  I am so happy that I did it and you are most welcome.  That's what friends are for.  I am not very good at writing stories but may be someone can post the story of the failed machine which could not be fixed in any way but only through a very costly little knock by a hammer by an expert.  This is like it, but not costly; given free.

I managed to glance through V's posts and yes, I and also all of you, are evolving.  I do a lot of reading - sometimes feel that my sight is weakening too.  I have developed an interest in Neale Donald Walsch's "Conversations with God".  Wow, they give lots of insight into Life itself.  Please read and see if you haven't already - there are nine Conversations with God and he has published some other books as well.  And I must thank Voyager too for his contribution to my reading, through my brother.

I just get the feeling that, that story of Dr Elizabeth Kubler Ross's mother was in a book of Dr Brian Weiss.  I will try to locate it and post it.  And the prayer to St. Michael, patron saint of my home town (or rather village):

Holy Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness, and snares of the devil.  May God rebuke him.  We humbly pray, and do thou, Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God thrust down to hell Satan and all wicked spirits, who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.  -Amen.

And also, Mrs Aloma Amarasekara, a medium here in Sri Lanka, has told me that there are two psalms that are protective and to use them in any trouble.  One is Psalm 91.  I forgot the number of the other.  Sorry.

So, Louellen, please email me your postal address and I will send you something nice.

Hi Lou,
This is the first part -
Yang Dunni-mittang avamanga langcha
Yocha manapo sakunassa saddo (oo)
Papaggaho dussu pinang akanthang
Buddha -nubhavena Vibasamenthu

In here in the  last sentence you can change the word Buddha (If you are uncomfortable with the word Buddha) to Lord Jesus (but as Jesusa) . Or perhasp Angel's names in your religion.
In this
Second part goes exactly as it is and word Buddha replaced by Dhamma
So read as Dhamma - nubhavena (Dhamma is Dharma or the teaching)
and the thrid part
Word Buddha again replaced by word Sangha as in Sanghanubhavena
which measn by the power of Sangha - which are powerful monks and priests
again here you can substitute with your own.

Meaning is like this -
By the poweer of the Buddha (Or Jesus, Dharma etc) may all evil omens and untoward circumstances, the ominous cry of birds, the malign conjunctions of the stars, and evil dreams be rendered nugatory.

However this should be prayed using original words in Pali- not in English. The reason is they are wriiten according to certain law -which create sounds as it should be.

Next one - Nakkatta Yakka Bhuthanag
Papapg gaha nivaranang
Pariththassa nubhavena
Hanthu thuihang/ Namang upaddave

this means:
By the power of this protection prayer may you/me be free from all dangers arising from malign influences of the spirits, demons and planets. May the misfortune vanish.

I do not ahve your tel. I think I lost it. You gave me when I sent the masks. I can show you how to pronounce if you want this to practice..

Hi Voyager,

Why not you consider finding a recording of it or chanting it yourself and then post the audio clip over here?

Hi Lou,

Thanks for all the good comments on me .  And the NIYAMA that Voyager mentioned can be attributed to God in a Christian (and wherever an Almighty God is believed in) background.  We can consider those to be God's will or Acts of God something that is imposed by or enacted by one Supreme Being.  That way you may be able to comprehend them better; at least I hope so.

Dew........THAT is a great idea!

V....if you could record yourself saying that prayer and post it here, I'm sure a lot of us would all benefit, rather than just me!

Thank you for posting it, Voyager!  I was trying to pronounce the words but, it's so different to anything that I've ever tried to read before that I'm sure that I'd not get it right unless I heard it said.  I seem to have no talent for languages to begin with!

I will try to find this part  (you don't want to give me your number then ha ha )
in the net. If not that would take some time to record and post. This is Pali - it is a dead language. No one uses this language except in religious scripts. I have studied it when I was young.

Hi Louellen:
I am very sorry to hear your current woes...they will pass.
I couldn't make my mortgage payment for almost a year and now it looks like we'll actually keep the house.
You just never know for sure how it all will swing, but I do trust that it will go the way it's supposed to.
I have also found that anything that seems too hard - lots of barriers in the way etc., often isn't worth
doing everytime I have pushed against the will of something greater than me, it hasn't worked - having said that, it depends on your gut feelings and your intuition.
I have often been greatful later for what I perceived as "bad fortune" at the time. I even have said thank God for a bad fire I was
in - and it's true, it was devastating at the time but turned my life around in a very positive way.
Pyschic people are still "people" and therefore still have good luck bad luck, divorces bad health etc like
the rest of society. Also, all people are pyschic, just some of us work on developing this gift.
Best of everything to come to you Lou!
Kari

Hi Lou,

I'm still here once in a while, and I haven't caught up on all the current questions! However I am still sending you good energy with your health matter, and I still feel (as much as ever) that you are not in any serious health risk like cancer! Things just feel too good to me, whenever I read your posts :)

I hear you on the "premonition fears." For the longest time, I had this irrational fear that my youngest son would cut his finger off, when using a sharp knife. Of course, I imagined the worst. This fear went on for YEARS.

Well wouldn't you know, just this past summer, my OLDEST son cut off the TIP of his finger, but not with a knife (it was by tripping while carrying a metal tray) ... and it was NOT as serious as I had imagined! (a few stitches and he was recovered in 2 weeks).

End of story ... my premonition was distorted/intensified because it involved me and my own family ... something I have NEVER been good at "getting right"!!! I have a tendency to get over-worried and irrationally focused/obsessed with the same thought, over and over again, when it involves myself or any of my loved ones. I traditionally get these premonitions somewhat wrong!! In this case, I had the event right, but had over-blown the seriousness of it. And I had the wrong son :)

Maybe what you are fearing is a health SCARE (which seems to be happening right now!) and that is the premonition you are distorting because it's too close to you personally. You could be feeling something ELSE happening to you at age 54, and you interpret it as dying at the same age as your Mother, when you could be picking up on something significant happening in 2 years, and maybe something that has nothing to do with you personally!!

Also I think it is natural to fear the age our parents died at, especially if they died too early in their life. I know so many people who fear this! It just seems to be a natural "mental block."

Anyway I'm rambling, but I just wanted you to know, I feel very strongly you are going to be OKAY!!

Love, K-Galaxie

I agree very much with K-Galaxie. What happens to you is what you fear most. So,

Fear Not!
