Figured I should pursue this in another thread:

in all the years of working with massage, I could rub my hands togather, and move them to a area that wasnt getting enough blood flow, and the energy in my hands would move the blood to that area. Works great for arthritis. When I would find a hot spot or area, I would lay my left hand on the area, and it would cool it,,when I would find a cold spot or area, I would lay my right hand on the area, and it would warm it

I was curious, would you say it was a "real" hot spot, or a psychic hot spot?
Thanks,
Linda

It would be a "real" hot spot,,in other words, the area might be inflamed from arthritis, or something else. Once the area would start cooling, then I would move the blood through it, and the soreness would start leaving. I know it sounds weird, but I used this method for many years. I did massage for over 30 years, and had great results.  I hope some of you will try it..love, Delois

Gonna jump in here, hope you don't mind.

I don't do massage, per se - have done some reflexology in past years.  Arms too weak - too many breaks.  My main modalities are Hypno and Reiki.

Reiki practitioners with hands together, as in namaste,  call on Universal energy.  It enters through the 7th or crown chakra, circulates throughout the body and is raised in frequency.  At a point where the practitioner feels the healing energy is sufficient they place hands on the client's crown chakra or heart chakra to transmit the energy.  The energy from the practitioner is joined with the client's and the client begins to pull the energy; it is a collaborative effort.  As hands are moved downward from the crown, over the eyes, ears, throat, neck, shoulders, arms, etal.  As much time as needed is spent at each location.

Often, the Reikiist will feel spots of heat or cold.  We call these blocks or blockages, spots within the body's energy system are clogged.  Sometimes the worker will get pictures of the blockage and/or what caused it, it this lifetime or one past.    Sometime's the client will get the pictures or intuit/trigger an event in this lifetime, or a past one, that has caused the blockage.  The internal photo is sometimes a wound, or sometimes just a jumble of twisted and knotted colors.  Time is spent trying to smooth out or unknot the jumble, so that free flow of energy can be attained.

In massage, as I've experienced in Reflexology, I would assume there are similar patterns.  In massage there is the added bonus of tissue manipulation to help clear the pathway very quickly (after some initial pain), which gives instant relief.

Both Reiki and Massage, being hands on, also relieve other stresses.  Our society is not so touchy feely, although it's getting better, and both modalities give a client physical contact with another human being which, otherwise, might not be accessible.  This in itself is enormously soothing and healing.

Psychic hotspot?  What's that?  Do you mean some kind of trauma, illness?  Can you explain a little more what you mean?

I was thinking like a "heat" or other sensation indicating a problem, that one would pick up psychically rather than physically (by touch).

OK, gotcha.  Hmm - well, I would think that since you're using your hands and feel the heat, then you are kinesthetically feeling the heat, and that one of your main modes of experience is kinetic/touch - you intuit knowledge with/from touch.  I suppose you could label it psychic.  Although, the word psychic is rooted in the Greek psyche meaning soul/breath.

This gets real sticky here because each of the senses informs the psyche in a different mode. And although we all have five (some say ten) senses, we primarily use one or two, with one or two subordinates to access information and knowledge about the physical world.

When you encounter a hot spot, what happens?  Do you feel it, does it engender pictures in your mind, does a smell accompany the hot spot?  Do your hands tingle?  What's your experience of a hot spot?

Because I work with energy, I feel (kinesthetic/touch) a decided pull of the energy my hands are emitting from a clogged/damaged/diseased area of client's body.  This triggers a vision (sight, which is my primary sense) which informs me of what is happening in client's body - and that is for me the psychic part - an internal or soul knowing.  But, to keep myself in check, I always ask what the client feels, or knows about that area.

Does this make sense?

If you don't know what your primary mode is, you can find out by writing the five senses across the top of a sheet of paper.  Then, under each one list the words you know that agree with or allude to that sense.  When you've written down all the words you can think of, put a check mark beside the words that you use most often.  The sense with the most words, or the most check marks, is usually indicative of your primary sense mode, and on down through secondary, etc.  It's a fun and informative exercise.

Let me know if you do it, and how it turns out.
