A wee bit of herbal trivia for those interested. Sassafras was an original ingrediant in root beer. It is also used as a spring tonic and sweetener for other bitter herb tonics. It tends to thin the blood so should be used sparingly in winter. Athough used by Native Americans for centuries, one of it's isolated biochemicals when fed excessively to lab rats by the Drug company sponsored American Medical Association pharmacologist alledgedly may cause cancer. It is the root that sacharin was made from and frequently used by diabetics.     Here's to a cup.                            Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Yule, Hanukka
