Did you know that sage and sweet grass have been used by the Native Amerian People for centuries!! They use them in thier meditations, vision quests, and sweat lodges.  White Sage is very sacred to them!

Sage brings power, longevity, wisdom, protection, wishes

"It is said if you desire to make a wish come true..write your wish on a sage leaf and hide it beneath your pillow. Sleep on it for 3 nights. Once you dream of what you want, your wish will materialize; if not bury the leaf in the ground so that you don'tcome to harm."

Sweet Grass is used to call spirits

Sweet Grass is burnt to call on Good spirits or beings before performing spells.
It has also been used to call on your Spirit Guides and Totem(Spirit/Power) Animals.
It relaxes.

They both help with Astral Travel and Mediumship also.

Blessings

Sage is also used for cleansing, as in a smudge ....

There are Smudge Sticks (which are Sage bundles for burning to cleanse a house, apartment, tarot cards, gems, jewelry...etc...) You can also find White Sage leaves loose and burn them in a small cast iron container for smudging and cleansing stones, cards, pendulums, your home, office....etc......This way you can adjust exactly how much sage you are using and save money. Sage is known to bring bad luck if one grows thier own (old na wive's tale, but a NA tale I would listen to lol personally). You can burn the Sage loose leaves for meditating, you do not have to burn this with Sweetgrass....as Sweetgrass is a smell that one aquires LOL kinda like Asparagus ROFL!... It's smell is sweet and the taste kinda sticks in your mouth it's so strong! Yet effective!   Sage sorta kinda smells like Pot (hehehe no wonder you travel with this and meditate so well )

How do you call upon good spirits when burning sweet grass, and how long do you burn it for?  Thanks hon!

When ever you meditate you always call up for good spirits..this is why I always insist on protection before I start meditations and when I go to sleep. I white light myself, my house and my family!! (I also ask Jesus and 4 guardian (arch)angels to stand guard at the four corners of my house, with Jesus at the Front door!)

Burn the sweetgrass(I REALLLLLLLLLLY would mix it with sage, this stuff smells so sweet and the taste in your mouth from the smell is not worth it) for the time of meditation....if you meditate for 1/2 hr use enough to last a 1/2hr etc...

Sweet Grass usually comes in a braid so you can cut off exactly what you need. If you buy it already cut please be careful to keep it in a VERY dry dark place so it wont get slimey and rotted.
