St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost or stolen things....I cannot remember if we said this when our dog went missing, (it might have been the one you see often in the classifieds where you promise publication upon the answer to your prayer)...but I think you ought to give this some consideration. All the best... Michelle From http://www.luckymojo.com/saintanthony.html Unfailing Prayer to Saint Anthony Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints. O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle. Even so, you are the saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen. (Say 13 Paters, Aves, and Glorias) The invocation of Saint Anthony for the return of someone or somthing lost appears in Jamaica as well as in the United States. In 1996, Lewis Erskine wrote to me: My aunt used to say, when ever something was lost, St. Anthony, St. Anthony Please come down Something is lost And can't be found She is the Philadelphia-born daughter of Jamaicans who came to the States on their honeymoon and never left. They (my grandparents and their children) were members of The (Christian?) Brethren. I used to snicker out loud and wonder to myself about this mild incantation until I tried it one day. I found what I was looking for. That was more than 10 years ago. I continue to call on St. Anthony when I misplace something (which is often). I continue to find what I am looking for. If I am looking for something someone else misplaced, I find it if I call on St. Anthony. I write to you to ask if you have heard this, and if you can enlighten me on any Yoruba or other connection alive in this call for spiritual intervention in daily life. Professor Cunnea ([email protected]) contributed another invocation to Saint Anthony: The one my family knows is different. My mom learned it in in Catholic grammar school on the South Side of Chicago in the 1940s: Dear St. Anthony, I pray Bring it back, without delay |

E, No, he hasn't been found. My mom's boyfriend housesat and answered calls about little white dogs. People brought over several and he managed to reunite one of them with it's family. The other one he's keeping but I'm still reading the lost and found ads. Today he took him to the vet for a rabies shot and a microchip. He's so cute, 2-3 yrs old and maybe a maltipoo? My daughter and I haven't really liked the BF so he could make huge points if he'd let us keep him. I guess I can hope that Travis has found a new family, too. B |

Wow Lou, About a month ago, my daughter found an animal communicator at www.calmpet.com. We called and she said that Travis had been near a metal tube in sandy soil. This location was actually a doublewide mobile home installation in progress. A deep hole is dug, covered with sandy soil and the double wide is moved in on it's wheels. We saw his footprints there. All Travis remembers is seeing the big brown dog(coyote). She said he felt like air and was full of light. He didn't know what had happened to him yet and we should tell him to go to the light. She hoped that she was wrong but it was what she had seen. At the time, I accepted what had happened to him and I had a peaceful feeling come over me. After a couple of days I started to get phone calls from Missing Mutts, a local volunteer group, and a woman convinced me to keep looking and to not give up searching for him. The peaceful feeling has been replaced with anxiety. Almost every day I hear the doggy door swish sound and I wonder if it's my bichon Tyler d. May 1, 2005 or Travis or both of them. azmiss |

Az, I think that there's only 2 ways to look at this in order to save your sanity a bit. Either the poor little baby is at perfect peace right now (in which case, there's nothing for you to feel anxious about) or, there is someone who has Travis and he is happy. No matter which way you look at it, there is nothing to be anxious about. Just remember that while you continue to look or hope.......there is likely another little furbaby that could use your love and a good home!!! Don't discount that. Perhaps, you had Travis as long as Travis needed to be here and you're meant now, to give another little one the same love and care that you did Travis! I'd love to give you incentive to believe that Travis will come back through that door again. But, I'm not getting validation one way or the other at this point. Don't know why. But, I do feel that one way or the other, Travis is NOT in any distress! So, calm down and don't torture yourself too much. There is only so much that one can do and the rest is in Divine Hands! With a HUGE HUG!!! ~Louellen~ |

Aw.......Lou , I'm reminded of the loss of my Tyler(bichon, 9 yrs old) d. May 2005 who was really special to me, a wonderful companion and all around support dog. Travis(bichon 9 mos old), lost Nov 2005 was my new special puppy to love, full of promise with his own personality. I think I'm grieving for both of them. I tried not be angry with the person who lost him but bottling up my anger was causing anxiety so I'm letting it out!! Thank you for your kind words. They really do make me feel better. azmiss |

Hey, Az.........I know that feeling well of thinking back about other beloved Furbabies and their losses. It's like having children, isn't it? Go ahead and be angry at the person that let Travis out! Get it out of your system and be as mad as you need to be. Just remember that they didn't do it on purpose ane everyone makes mistakes. And.........well............dogs will be dogs and wander! Their little noses go to the ground and they're off. Hopefully.........that, "One Day" will be SOON!!! Why wait? There are so many little babies out there that need our love and a good home! Why make them wait? You've got the home and the love........................................... ~Louellen~ |
