I was wondering since i've been out of pocket a bit, how your Topper is feeling.  I truly hope all is well.  Love, Topaz

Hi Topaz:

My, I've been neglecting this board!  Thank you for asking.

I'm actually having a rough day with Topper today.  He's not been well again and even though his insulin has been upped again, it's not doing the trick as it should.  He lives his life by the water bowl and catbox still.  I'm kind of frazzled because I'm not quite sure on what to do anymore.  We've got huge vet bills and can't afford much more, but have no other choice (the alternative is out of the question if you know what I mean....gotta keep fighting and trying!).

All in all, when he has his good days, he's quite happy and comfortable.  Today is a bad day and we're not quite sure what it is that's causing it.  We've been to a specialist that wanted $2100.00 to go in and "explore" things such as sinus infection, chronic sinustitis, possible nasal/larynx polyps, and even laryngeal cancer, but there's also a great risk involved with the anesthetic and even then, if it turns out to be one of those things, it would require a second surgery and anethetization totaling possibly, another $1200.00-$2,000.00.  We do know that his lungs were clear and it's not his lungs.  But, due to the diabetes, they cannot give him what they would to clear up sinus problems so, all would be moot anyways.  So, it's quite confusing as to what to do.  For the time being, we're just working on getting his insulin regulated properly and get that stabilized.  We'll think about what might need to be done otherwise if it absolutely has to be done.

In the meantime, we're battling things day by day and hoping to get things straightened around so that he's feeling good and in good health.

Thanks for asking Topaz!  I'm afraid that I just haven't gotten to this board as often as I'd like.

Love and Light,
Louellen

With your permission, I would like to start a "Topper fundraiser" I hope you won't say no, since that is what friends and family do for one another. I realize most of us aren't wealthy by anymeans, but I could finesse Starbucks for a week or have a garage sale. There are millions of ways to raise a few bucks.  If Topper  needs surgery, I for one would be more than happy to help as I imagine  others would as well. Having had my cat for almost 21 years, I know what you are experiencing emotionally and financially. Please let me help, as you have helped so many here offering your support, knowledge and time. Love, Topaz
