hi all
well i was looking to get a sun conure or a green cheek conure  but found a neighbor who was wanting to get rid of two galahs so guess who has them now lol. its a male and female pair  the female is going to take some work to get her calmed down  she was never handled  the male was hand raised  and talks a bit.its funny but when i moved to australia i told my hubby i wanted a galah and he just laughed and said  no one really wants them  they are pests here lol. he was kidding though.soon as he found out i got them  he came down to my house to see them.( we split up 4 months ago)said he is going to build me a tree stand for them so now i just got some work to get her  tamed down and need help with ideas for toys for them . she has allready chewed almost thru one perch lol.she scrapes her beak on it  and removes shavings of wood  lol.

Feisty little buggers! LOL.
Friend of mine used to breed and raise them, they had an outside aviary and she put several birch limbs in it for their continued chewing pleasure.
Constant handling makes a difference. Not allowing them to be territorial also helps...
Good luck!

Pretty pair!

That link has some interesting articles.  I'll definitely be checking it out in more detail.  Thanks for sharing!

Not many folks seem to appreciate these birds as pets for some reason.  We've had our Rosie for nearly 8 years now and I wouldn't trade her sweet personality for anything.

They can be on the nippy side and "taming them down" will not only take time but a lot of patience and some hard bites thrown in for good measure.
I'd start looking on the web for all the information on cockatoo's I could find....
They are loud, they are destructive and they need a good variety diet.
I raised them and found personalities differ within the same species though some traits do apply within a certain species...
Two will be a lot to handle if you are a first time Too owner.... since they seem to have been raised together, are used to one another it amy be that you will have to buy a very large cage as the one shown seems rather small for a pair...
They are a pretty pair and congrats on the two new additions...

Beautiful birds. I agree with Too2again. That cage is way way way too small for those two birds. They can't possibly get any exercise in there. That bath below them will be nasty with poop in no time, too.

That's a weird website. Lots of info but too much trouble to go back and click each link separately.

The galas are really beautiful.  The gala website was interesting.  I don't approve of the gala soup either, but the twelve days of Christmas made me smile!

yeah i know this cage is to small but its only for the quaranteen time. they will have a bigger cage when thats over with.and it is larger then it looks in the picture.they can fly from side to side with out wings hitting anything. the male is still really friendly  and the female is slowly coming around   she isnt hissing at me any more lol.think some apple won her over with me lol. and with the bowl at the bottom it was just to make sure they could find water for the first couple of  hours  and was cleaned out every hour . and as for the biting  i used to do hawk rehab  back in the states  so im not afraid of large beaks thanks for the site and other ideas   and i didnt like the galah soup one either. have seen other ones for cockatoo soup .

I have to say that I didn't like the soup either, but it was there on the site.  figured that there was sufficient info to ignore that one little thing.
