I will be getting a new cage for my new DYH in June when the Bird Expo comes again to Orlando. Wish it wasnt so far away. The prices are sooo good. I saw this one cage that had 2 levels and the play gym on the lower side. Do you know what I mean? I know you arent suppose to have your bird play on his cage. He will have a sleep cage(his old cage) and another play gym on the porch. He can also have playtime in the "bird room" where he will sleep. If he moves around a bit like that,do you all think a bird would be ok and not get overly aggressive being on his cagetop playgym?

   Thanks again,

It just depends on the bird, and you are doing pretty well with him so I  wouldn't worry about it. My new DYH plays on his cage all time and is fine. If he were to get ornery I would just get out the footstool I have, and suddenly I'm much taller.Make sure you have one of those and you're fine. Nan

Six of my cages have the play gyms on top and I've never used them... Mine could all get an attitude problem really fast if they were that high.
I do let mine play all over their cages when inside and wasn't aware that was off limits... they enjoy jumping from cage to cage or flying from one to the other.

He has been really good. My hubby can move him sometimes now without a perch. If I want to move him and he doesnt seem like he wants to go,I just move him with the perch.

The playgym is about eye level. A stool is a good idea if he starts an attitude.

I just wanted to update this post,in case anyone is looking though old posts like me.

Anyway.........Ozzy has been doing just fine with his cagetop gym. We have had his new cage/gym for over a year now. It is about 5'10" to the top perch and Im 5'8". I can get him down when I need to. I can even get him off the curtain rod thats way over my head when he sneaks away. One I couldnt reach him and used a perch and he was a good boy.

I'm glad you don't have a height dominance issue with him... I don't take the chance but then again I'm not 5' 8" and if I were they wouldn't try anything funny with me, that's for sure...

Pity I'm short and squat.... infact I thought I was a bit taller so that was surprise number one...

Then came surprise number two when my clothes didn't recognize me or anything above the knees at least as my pants get up that far and won't venture further. It's like living with a stranger's wardrobe!

LOL... the play stand that I made for Angel-Rose is 7 1/2 feet tall.... we have 8 foot ceilings.... guess I have an attitude, because I've never had anyone argue about stepping up except Sailor, but she is learning the meaning of those words.
