I am putting your message in this new thread so others will notice it and can perhaps help you.
The message you attached this to was about huge birds so some people would not see it. No biggie, but it could help you to have your own thread. Glad you joined us.
I am the proud mother of 1 parakeet (binky) and 2 cockatails (Harry and Juanita) My problem is that Juanita constantly chases and pecks poor old Harry. Is there anything I can do to correct this other than seperate them?
Lessee...anudder question for you......Oh and great to see you on the boards..WELCOLME....okay....back to the question. Quanita's and Harry's cage....how large is it. Remember these sweeties need lots of room for their wingspan and occasional spat. Could be, if the quarters are too small, they may feel and invasion of space. She could be trying to keep him away from what she considers hers. An easy way to think of it is imagine both of them with their wings completely outspread while on the same perch. Would their wings or tails touch? Now...add several inches for spaces to flap and move about. That should be a minimum for them. It's very difficult to get an ideal size cage for both of them to be in...kind of spendy. So, you might want to opt out for two cages so they each have their own space...but you can keep the cages close together so they can still interact with each other.
I agree. Each of the three birds should have their own cage. We place birds together as though they will just naturally be friends. It isn't any more true for birds than it would be for us humans. Imagine having to live every moment of your life with someone that you were sick and tired of having to deal with. Large, roomy cages placed next to each other would be the ideal solution, in my opinion.
