God and mothers, how are they similar? We may say there is no similarity. How could God be like a mother or a mother like God? Does the Bible not say in Gen. 1:26 that we are made in the image of God? I saw an example the other day of how mothers are similar to God. Let me explain. My grandaughter spent the night with me the other day, we went to some garage sales, and then went to a Long Johns Silvers for our lunch. After which we went to a few more garage sales, mostly looking for some good Christian books to read, as my grandaughter is what you might call a book worm, and I enjoy reading good books as well. The day was hot and then we finished the afternoon off by going to our local Dairy Queen for some ice cream. After our order we sat down at a table and were enjoying our treat. Soon a mother came in with three of her children. It was not long after they ordered that they decided to take their treats back to the car, instead of sitting there inside the Diary Queen. I noticed one of the daughters had a regular vanilla cone the other had a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate, the small boy about 4 years of age had a regular vanilla cone. Do not ask why I noticed what the kids were eating as I do not know why, but there must have been a reason for it as I am mentioning it here. As they were walking across the driveway to get to their car, the girls hurried across and got in the car on the passenger side as there was a car coming. The little boy looked fearful at the on coming car, but the mother hurried and placed herself between the on coming car and her little son. She protected her son from the danger of the the car hitting her son, and placing herself in harm's way instead. The car slowed down and passed them, there was really no problem. But it reminded me of how God protected us from harm, by placing Jesus on the cross to save us from harm and an everlasting seperartion from His presence. The mother safely placed her son inside the car, the other children were also safe inside the car. This is how God and mothers are similar. God has placed us into the family of God, for our protection and our safety. He is our right guard! He will protect us from danger, and not allow anything to come between our being safe in Him, as long as we are calling on Him to help us, and living in His presence daily!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you that you are my protector from danger. You will never leave me or forsake me. You are a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. A good mother is like you, as she follows your example of protecting her family, you protect me. Thank you Lord for sending your Son that I might have life and that more abundantly. Help me to follow you and be that protector in my family too! Thank you for loving me and being my right guard!! In Jesus name, Amen
