We have to pray for a new president. It is our command from the Word. We may not like him..we may not have voted for him..we still have to pray for him. Love , Aalie |

Amen Aalie....though I may not have voted for him...the Word commands us to pray for all those in authority....and as long as we are obedient, we are covered. Ps 121:5-8...The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. |

And those who did not vote have no right to complain but they need to pray too.
Praying for God's will to be worked in this man's soul for the Glory of God. Lois |

Why are we commanded to pray for our leaders? So that we "may live peaceably". It is hard to pray for someone such as these so-called "leaders", and many times I want to pray impreccatory prayers against them and their evil as David did. I believe God has given the people want they cried out for, but I also believe that God is about to judge America for the silence and complicity of "Christians" who have not spoken out and held those they elected accountable to righteousness. |

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This is the darkest day in American History, The Lord has spoken to my spirit and showed me that he has allowed the Deceivers to win in America because we have kicked him out of this country he is lifting his Blessing from America and when Abortion becomes legal and Gay Marriage becomes legal it will be a modern day Sodom & Gommora and he will bring down Judgement on America as he did to Sodom & Gommora, he said to look up as as he will come for his church soon, so Pray for those who do not know Him now more than ever Amen |

I have been praying for my country and political leaders and will continue to pray for both. I was listening to the news this morning and the thought came to mind--the Democrates are not rejecting the freedoms American's have, but they are rejecting me. The Republican party stands along the lines of what the Bible says is right versus doing whatever. They are choosing to not follow God. I know that is a strange thought, but you know what happened to the children of Israel everytime they turned their backs on God....but I do believe that as Abraham asked if there is one in the land that will serve you will you not destory....the only way to get us out of this land is for us to be in heaven...so it is important to know exactly where our hearts are tonight...from this day forward the wrath of God could come upon those who rejected him...but at the same time if God's people will humble themselves and ask for fogiveness he is quick to forgive. Maybe this is where we need to be seeking for God until revivial comes in our land... I don't have the answers that is for sure, but I know my God is in control and I am not afraid..for he loves and keeps me in the palm of his hand always. Smiles- Alivelight |

This has been a hard day, I still cant believe it. I actually asked GOD is he was listening . I mean we prayed, fasted humble our selves. GOD I said are you there. YES HE WAS We will pray that God would change President-Elect Obama's mind and heart on issues of crucial moral concern. May God change his heart and open his eyes to see abortion as the murder of the innocent unborn, to see marriage as an institution to be defended, and to see a host of issues in a new light. We must pray this from this day until the day he leaves office. God is sovereign, after all. For those Christians who are more dismayed than overjoyed about the prospects of an Obama presidency, there should be a remembrance that as our President, Barack Obama will have God-given authority to govern us, and that we should view him as a servant of God (Rom. 13:1, 4) to whom we should be subject (Rom. 13:1, 5; 1 Pet. 2:13-14). Thus, again, we are to pray for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We are to thank God for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We are to respect Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7). We are to honor Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7; 1 Pet. 2:17). For those Christians who are more overjoyed than concerned about the prospects of an Obama presidency, there should be a remembrance of our ultimate allegiance: Jesus is Lord (and thus, He, not we, decides what is right and wrong), we serve God not man, and the Lord himself has promised to establish "the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him" (Malachi 3:18). Thus, where our new president opposes or undermines biblical moral standards in our society, fails to uphold justice for the unborn, undermines religious liberties or condones an ethos that is hostile to the Gospel, we will pray for God's purposes to triumph over our President's plans and policies. Without doubt and whatever our particular views may be, we face hard days ahead. Realistically, we must all expect to be frustrated and disappointed. Some now may feel defeated and discouraged. While others may all-too-soon find their audacious hopes unfounded and unrealized. We must all keep ever in mind that it is God who raises up leaders and nations, and it is God who pulls them down, and who judges both nations and rulers. We must not act or think like unbelievers, or as those who do not trust God. We must move forward and believe and trust GOD. Rita |

Got an e-mail from one of the lieutenants on my fire department which said; "Remember that God used Saul as Paul." |

Such comfort is found on this thread after trying to digest "what happened" at the presidential elections! I never have voted for who I thought would win any election..........I vote for goodness and love- now that Obama has won I have to endorse him to do the Lord's Work. And that is praying for him like Sandy says. I am used to being disappointed w/ my election selections at the ballot box.......I voted for McCain. (God bless him, too). But in being disappointed in my selections I am kind of smiling and am very trusting in Father's Plan. Amen? Yes, we have no idea what the hay is gonna happen with Obama's administration do we? Thanks be to Jesus for including us while we are here on earth. Many more thank-yous to all that responded to this thread. God-bless you all. tim |

God never removed His true people when trouble came, but preserved them through it. Jesus did not pray for the Father to take [them] out of the world, but to keep them safe in the world. Don't look for any rescue from your foxholes. Be faithful like those who were taken captive by Babylon for 70 years. They were told to marry, have children, buy and sell and acquire land. They were going through a period of judgment, but it would end and they would be restored to their land. |

Aalie, I agree, we must pray for the new president. Although I'm not an American, I daily pray for him and his family.Even before Obama was elected. Sandy, I fully agree "as long as we are obedient we are covered". Today I was thinking a lot about Corrie ten Boom who was in the concentration camps during WWII. She was a member of the resistance, together with other family members. But the Germans were the established government in that time. And it made me think: should christians be in the resistance in a time of war? Or simply being obedient to the government and pray for it? Billy, that's right! Saul was a persecuter of christians, yet God used him.And he became a great apostle. Swordmaster, you're right.God always preserves his people. After being captives in Babylon, they could go back to their country during the reign of Kores (Cyrus in English??) and he wasn't exactly a believer in the one true God. I heard on tv that Obama is coming to Belgium next year. Dear american friends, I can only advice yo to pray for the government.I do it daily, not only for my country for other countries as well. love, eelya |

You are so sweet eelya...and thank you for praying for our country...and it is our job to pray for other countries as well....because we all affect one another... We are to pray for our leaders, yes...but not do as they do if it is against the Word of God....there are those in government that are Christians....thank God...but we still have to pray...and also make our voices heard...according to Gods Word.... God bless you...and your country...sandy |
