I Contributed Nothing To Salvation

God created the world; God created mankind.  God sustains all that exists.  When man sinned, God already had the plan of redemption prepared.  God became a man in the Person of Jesus Christ and God was whipped, crowned with thorns, slapped and mocked, and willingly lay down on a Cross to be crucified in my behalf and in my place and God shed His blood for me.  When He had paid for my every sin, past-present-future then He said "It is finished" and gave up His Spirit and His fleshly body died, per His own will.

God did it all in the Person of Jesus Christ.  I contributed nothing to my salvation.  I wasn't whipped, crowned with thorns, nor did I climb up beside Him on the Cross to die, and even I had it would avail nothing for my sacrifice would not be perfect but would be corrupted by the pollutions of sin.  If I had to make a contribution, the only contribution I could make would be the sins He died for and that does not earn salvation.  It only made it necessary for Him to make all the contributory and propitionary steps to ensure my salvation.

HE---DID---IT---ALL.  I did nothing but receive the benefits of His grace freely.  "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."

I believe and I am saved.  He did it all without contribution from me.

I posted this again because I really like this post.

ADDENDUM:

I always teach what the Bible teaches - we are to respond to God's commands.  He said if we BELIEVE we will be SAVED but believing does not ADD TO WHAT CHRIST DID ON THE CROSS.

He paid it ALL - I paid NONE.  Salvation is an UNEARNED, UNDESERVED, FREE GIFT.

I contributed nothing to salvation.  I responded to God's offer of free salvation by believing and therefore receiving the free gift.

If I brought a gift to you that cost me $1000 and I said "It is yours if you accept it" then if you reject it it still cost me $1000 but you don't get it.  If you receive the gift it still cost me $1000 but YOU contributed NOTHING to the cost of that gift.  It is FREE to you but it cost ME $1000.

Even so, salvation's cost was borne by God - not by me.  I did not contribute one thing to the cost of salvation.  Jesus paid it all - all to Him I owe - sin had left a crimson stain - He washed it white as snow.
