I was out of town over the holidays and just received the payment plan/coupon info from Qwest. So, that means I missed the payment due date (I'm sending the check today) but according to the info, by missing the payment due date, I will be removed from the plan and will not be able to reapply for one year. (Yikes, this means NO INSURANCE!)
Does anyone have info about this? I have been trying to call them for days but keep getting disconnected (they tell you in advance that you will be disconnected due to high call volumes). I have half a notion to call the state insurance board to make a complaint..... |

Chandalar, They are really bogged down and messed up. I had waived my retiree healthcare and reverted back to being an active employee's spouse with our three kids. They had sent a confirmation of the open enrollment choices, they were messed up. I called them, reconfirmed our choices. Christmas week we got new insurance cards, still messed up. Called several times, disconnected, hold times of over 40 minutes, more disconnects...finally got thru and now their excuse is that we need to send verification of who we are, which we've done in the past as 2 of the kids are college students, but it was after they sent the verification packets to us. No packets sent, but they say that they sent an e-mail to my husband at his UHC account and he was given a log in when he hired on with the company. Well, when he hired on, the internet was not in use, there were no websites, and how was he to know that this is where you go to get info? He's been out on workers' comp since May, no communication around this from his mgr or the company via snail mail. I'm faxing off birth certificates for all 3 kids, college transcripts, tax return and my marriage license today to insure we have healthcare. I would send an e-mail to Reed Roberts letting him know of your predicament as well as Mr. Mueller, cc Reed on the one you send to Ed. Give 7800 a call and let Stan Wylie know of the problem. I don't know if Michael Lynch has officially taken office yet, regardless Stan is a continuing officer and knows all the ropes. Last calls to make are to the NLRB, as the company has failed to uphold their healthcare plan, and then to Mike Kriedler, WA State's Insurance Commissioner. The office has an ombuds position that will take your concern/comments and begin working on them. It's one big void of information and action on the part of the company. Let us know how it goes. I'll keep people posted on my progress as well. |

PNB, Thanks for your great information. What a crazy joke this is beginning to be. I am on hold right now as we speak. I was on hold 1 hour this morning and had to hang up as I had a class to attend.
As an Oregon resident, would I still be able to talk to local 7800 people or Washington people? Perhaps Oregon has similar experts?
Wish me luck and hope they have mercy on me. |

After waiting on hold for one hour, I have good news! Shocking, isn't it? I mis-read the 'mice-type' on the info packet they sent out and I am not canceled!
So, to anyone who gets their payment in late: you have till the end of the month (postmarked last day of the month) to get it in for that month. For example, for January, it will be accepted up till the last day as long as it's postmarked on or before January 31.
Whew! I barely slept last night worrying over this. I will say it should be a crime to make people wait on lengthy hold like this or worse yet, make you go through an extensive menu and listen to messages that have nothing to do with your situation then DISCONNECT you because "the call volume is too heavy".
But, of course they warned me that they 'might' disconnect me due to the heavy volume of calls..... |

You could call any local office, Portland should be able to provide the same help. There is always the go-to lady, Carla Floyd. She's the union guru on health care benefits, benefit cases, etc. Carla has always been a treasure trove of information and help when needed. Tenacious as well. She's out of the Portland local, but handles things for Washington and Oregon both. Best of luck. I'm still slogging away thru my issues and keeping my fingers crossed. Got to love this mess..... not. Later, pnb |
