Dear Group,
I would appreciate any Type 1's with Addison's Disease to post what their symptoms were and how it, and other autoimmune diseases, may have affected their Diabetes control and general health.
I have been a Type 1 for 33 years, now age 46, and take Lantus and Humalog. In the last 15 years I've developed rheumatoid arthritis and Hashimoto disease. In the last 10 years, I also developed sleep apnea (central, I'm not overweight), neuropathy, frozen shoulder, depression, gastroparesis, menstrual problems.....and have many symptoms of Addisons.
I did halfway decent until the last 6 years, now I'm unable to do much of anything, not working, and hardly living at all.
I've had a cortisol check in the DR's office and he said it was fine. My blood sugars are all over the place, following no patterns or logic whatsoever. Sometimes I wonder if I am having insulin resistance and have even thrown out insulin believing it could be bad.
I've followed treatments, done research, and nothing gets better. The medicare insurance I am now on, leaves too much for me to pay to have excess testing.
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone else who might recognize themselves in my story and tell me how they found answers.
I had a really great job, raised 2 children, had hobbys and responsibilities I kept.
Now I don't even feel like going to Doc or handling daily chores. This is not what I fought all those years for. I can't help but feel there is an answer if someone would really dig for it. I have tried different doctors and even moved to a different state. My fantasy these days is to be put in the hospital and have a DR., like HOUSE on TV, put me through the ringer. And I really hate Hospitals!
Have any of you been through similar circumstances?
Also the pain and limited movement from frozen shoulder has not gone away after rehab and 3 years. Xrays show no severe Arthritic damage or other shoulder injury. I've read that Diabetes can cause deposits in the shoulders that may have to be dealt with through surgery. Anybody been treated for this?
Thanks for the Group's help!!  Rebecca
