Hi..i am a T-2 with Hashimotos (thyroid) long story short
long history of cancer biopsies...doing great then got diag
with T-2  (05) then diag with Hashimotos (06) threw a royal
issy fit and went into denial (07)  =whew=

so now i am going to a new dr monday May 5th... self emp and no insurance...  when going to a new dr..do you have to drag your long medical history along..or do you just take empty bottles RX s and let new dr decide what meds to be on..

I had a really great dr for 9 years then he just up and sold his practice no warning in two weeks he was gone +*+*+poof+*+*
i did NOT get along with dr who bought him out.. so i am shy
about going to a new dr..

you could kill a horse with my medical file LOL..
im not shure if i should start all over from scratch and
let him test the bejebbers out of me to take all my old
rxs and show him my long dragged out medical history..

i tend to turn into a whimpy patient when i see drs white coat
i have all these questions and then i just turn into a quivering
mass of goo..

HELP..what do you do when you go to a new dr for the first time  how do you act how aggressive or passive are you..

I will be taking my accu-check meter, my exercise log journal, and my BS journal and carb counts..

any info would help... i am a real barney fifes when it comes to office visits..

thank you
Lynne frances ann  (55 yrs old )  (on a good day 12 LOL )

Hello and welcome Lynn...

wow, sounds as if you already know what to do.  Ok.. yes you should take your file with you.  is is a copy or the originals... probably doesn't matter as they will make copies and will probably want to get copies from the old doc's office anyway... but you would have them for them to look over while you are there.
A list of all medicines currently on will be good enough, not the bottles...and yes girl, having all the other things will be great... that way the doctor will be aware of where you are with your control.

Don't worry about being whimmpy or passive or aggressive... I would say just go in there and see how this new doc is.  Can you get along with him, will he actually listen to you are rush along seeing you.  If he rushes you .... you don't want him period.
You need a doctor that will take the time to see you, listen to you, and answer all of your questions.  That is the most important part for all concerned.  If the doc will not take time for you, then he is not going to be concerned for your wellfare.

HOpe this has helped some....and again welcome to the group.

Huggles...

Debra has given you some outstanding advice.
Welcome to a group of good people.
Hope to be hearing from you more in the future.
I am also type 2 for over 30 years, on insulin and meds.

Thank you Deb and Marge...that is great help....yes i will be waiting to see what the new Dr  is like this  Monday

anything is better then waiting for 45 mins after i checked into replacements drs office get BP taken by tech and then wait another 35 min in exam room
plus l hour bus trip back and l hour trip home..
I know Drs overbook but wow..1 hour 15 mins to see a dr when the patient shows up early and on time..
thats just rude..and a waste of my time..

not to mention his scheduling me every 8 weeks

in two  months time i spent $700 on Dr who bought out practice and still did NOT have a rx for a 3 month supply of metformin..

My old dr would see you three times a year and write your Rxs for 3-4 months

that made sense to me.. not every 6-8 weeks..

thanks again...
blessings
Lynne Frances Ann
