A new law passed by congress prohibits the disabled from pressing charges against Govenment offices at the National and State level. How do you feel about this new page in the act?

It seems to me that in doing this the government is saying that they do not have to abide by their own laws.  If they intended to keep the laws themselves, why would they need a law protecting them when they don't.......

It really doesn't surprise me. The goverment just protects it own rear and not the common man. And why would the goverment have to take responsibility when it is at fault.

I am very upset to hear this. I had read in the ADA laws that no one is exempt from the laws except the Federal Courts. It specifically stated that in certain matters, no one is exempt; not the legislators, not the Govonors or any State Courts are exempt from the Laws of ADA. Only Federal Courts.

In an action I filed myself against a municipal State Court for violating my Civil Rights, the attorney for the other side tried to have my case dismissed, stating that I had many other remedies available to me before appealing to the State Supreme Judicial Court and moved to have my case dismissed. I filed the original suit in the State Supreme Judicial Court. I replied to her brief that it was proper for me to file my suit in the Highest Court in the State because The ADA Law states that no State Court is exempt from any provision of the Federal ADA Law and only the State Supreme Judicial Court has the power of superintendance over any lower court and therefor it was proper for me to file my suit in the SJC. The Justices agreed with me and reinstated my suit.

Please reply to me and let me know if the new law would have my case moot, I'm not an attorney and I only go by what seems logical.

Sincerely, Alan    --- [email protected]
