I just joined a gym for the first time. Has any one heard of the franchise Curves?? It's a gym for women only....no mirrors...no fancy stuff. Just women doing circuit weight training in a 30 minute work out cycle. I would be interested in knowing if any one has first hand experience with it as I am going for my first work out this evening. | |

We have a Curves that opened up recently in Winnemucca. A few people that I know have started going to the one here though and they talk highly of it. Let me know how it works out for you. I have not gone down to check it out yet. I need to talk to them about exercises and actions that will not cause the dystonia to flair up....also need to discuss it with my neurologist first too. | |

The work out was great! I am really out of shape, (though I'm told round is a shape *lol*). It was fast, fun and tough but not tough enough to be discouraging. It's circuit hydraulic weight training done on 24 stations of 30 seconds each. There was music playing though not too loud so you can talk while working out. I was out of there in 30-40 minutes and felt like I'd really accomplished something. I think this could really work | |

Only for women....no men allowed...and no mirrors!! What I like about it is that I can use my membership when I travel. It is good at all the Curves all over the world. | |

i have been a member of curves for over 6 months, and i love it there..have lost 35 lbs..and 22 inches..went from a size 16 jeans to 9/10....the only thing i wasn't crazy about was the changing machines every 30 seconds, but u get used 2 it..and the time goes fast...everybody gets visiting and all of sudden u r done. good luck |

Hi Angelbear,my sister went to Curves and she loved it.It's not such a hard workout that you are too sore to move the next day,and she did lose a few pounds.Also she found the exercise gave her more energy and self confidence, as she was doing something for herself.Enjoy,Hugs,Diane |
