Ancestry .Com are allowing free access to the War Records of all those that fought in the first World War so you can look up any relatives involved.

Can some one help me please ?
I was turning out my attic in my last home ready for a move when I found ( I knew it was there) my late husband's foster father's dis-charge paper, which is framed (original frame) It has the date of May 1919 and the dis-charge date. It gives his number, rank, position and regiment (Kent) in which he served. It is also signed. Can some one tell me where I can find out where I can find out more about him. He was in his 70's when I first meet him and died April 5th 1974. being born Jan 1st 1900 - he joined up at the age of 16 years.

Hi Cait

Mike's computer is out of action at the moment so we are rather short of help.  However, I sent him your query and he says you can obtain information at Army Disclosures, Glasgow.  You should be able to get the address on the Archives.  To check if he received medals, go to National Archives and search his medal index card.  They will charge £3.50 to see the records for his medal index.
