I’m looking for information for my family tree on my Great Grandfather: Thomas Hanly born in 1843, Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon, Eire, + died there too.

My Great Grandmother, Maria Conroy: born in 1854 Drummin, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.  She died in Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.

Their children: Mary Anne born 1878, Joseph 1881, Francis 1883, Michael 1885, Thomas Jr. 1887, Bernard 1890, Sarah 1891, Peter (grandfather) 1895, My grandfather Peter Hanly was born in 1895 + died in 1957 (approx dates)? Born + died in Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.

My grandmother Mary Catherine Doyle was born may 9 1893, in Drummin, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Don’t know date of death? She died in: Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Don’t have any more information on my grandmother's side at all.

I have an uncle who died in infancy, Francis Hanly, born 1933? Died approx 2 yrs of age? But this is in dispute, some say he was a couple of months, some say couple of years? Born + died in: Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Sorry it’s so long, if anyone could find out any more information, I’d be grateful.

Many thanks

Sorry i confused you.

I'm looking for: My Great Grandmother, Maria Conroy: born in 1854 in - Drummin, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. She died in Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon..

she married Thomas Hanly b. 1843. - Derreen, Kilcorkey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Eire. On Bernard's birth cert, she's Maria Hanly, formerly: Conry

somewhere along the line we got her father's name as: Michael Doyle + mother Mary Kelly.

can't figure out if she's been married before? hope this clears it up? maybe i put it under wrong surname?

thanks + sorry again.

Mary

Marion + Mike,

Thank you for the dates for Maria Conroy. + The children of Thomas Hanly.

I'm wondering why there was no mention of my grandfather Peter, born around 1895.

I'm not sure about the Maria Conry + Michael Doyle, don't have any dates for Michael + only possible year (1855?) for Maria.

The only information on Maria Hanly, formerly Conry is on her son Edmonds birth cert. (15-5-1890)

Thank you both again.

i'm also wondering why there's no mention of Edmond Hanley, on the site you found Thomas Hanly's children?

i've got birth cert for him. (Edmond) + his parents are Thomas + Maria.

thanks again.

The records on the LDS site are incomplete, so there will be names missing.

If you have certificates, they will be correct.  There are lots of errors in the LDS, so it is only a guide.  But they are improving the site bit by bit.

I'm thinking of going to Ireland in summer, + wondered if you might be able to let me know where i might go + see if i can get any more certs for my family?

someone else sent me the one's I've got already, I've contacted her, but as yet I've not had a reply.

Hi Mary

What we would suggest is that if you are going to Roscommon you visit the General Register Office (GRO) there in Convent Road, Roscommon Town, to see the civil records.

Also, make an appointment with the church where the marriages took place so that you can check their records.  We would advise that you set this up before you leave for Ireland.

Or if you can get there, a visit to the Dublin Archives would be a good idea.

Update on search for Thomas Hanly: still only year of birth for him. 1843. wife: Gr. Grandmother Maria Conry 1854.
Maria's parents: Maria Kelly + Michael Doyle. (don't no why the surname's different? possibility Gr. Grandmother's married before? no dates known)
Maria Kelly's father : Thomas Kelly no dates or wife's name known.
Michael Doyle's father Patrick Doyle no dates or wife's name known.

Hi Mary

You're welcome.  We do our best, but sometimes information just can't be found.  Yes, some messages have been getting quite delayed recently, not sure why.  One of the quirks of MSN.

We wish you all the best with your research, and have a good trip.  You will love Ireland.

Mary - Just in case you missed it, this was my message to you about three weeks ago posted under Doyle.

Marian

Just make sure to bring with you all relevant details from your family tree of the people you are researching, and make a list of the things you specifically want to find out.  This will save you time when you go to the archives.

There is also the National Library in Kildare Street where you may find records of interest.  And Trinity College would be well worth a visit.

It might be good to check out the places you want to visit (on the Internet) before you go.

And don't forget your Euros and your camera!

We wish you all the best.
Marian

I recently went to Ireland to do some research on my family. While there I got a birth cert for Thomas Hanly born: 19 September 1887, born in Galway. mother: Ellen + father John.

I thought it was a relation of mine, it's right name, but wrong birth place!

If it's of any use to any one else, you're welcome to e-mail me + I'll send it to you.

Regards
Mary

Hi Mary

Thank you for your offer.  I will post these details on the page "BMD Certificates" with the others.

I hope that your trip to Ireland was otherwise a fruitful one.

Hi Marian

No, not really, found no details on Francis Hanly 1933. + no new details on his parents/grandparents or anything on Doyle's.

Went through books 5 years either side of information you've already given for me on this site + can't find any information whatsoever, but I'll keep searching!

Thanks again for your help in my searches.

Regards
Mary
