Have been sorting through some very old paperwork and have actually found something of use.

 

Back in 2004 I was in touch with someone in Ireland and have found an email from him.  It states that John Adams was born on 28/8/1942 and Baptised on 29/3/1843.  Now comparing this with the info you gave me whoever transcribed this information must have misread the "3" for a "8".  This seems more believeable doesn't it?  This information came from the same church.

 

If this is all correct I now have to find a way of finding out if there are any siblings.  Any suggestions here?

I am afraid we may be barking up the wrong tree.

 

I found John Adams and his family on the English 1891 census.  I then found his wife and and some of his children on the Scottish 1901 census.  Assuming that John had died I looked further and found the registration of his death (in Scotland) on 22 March 1899.  On this it states that his mother's maiden name was Mary Ann Park so I don't think that Jane McNeilly has anything to do with him.  I'll let you know if I find any more info.
