Debbs,  Thomas CUMMINS is listed as aged 20 when he arrived in ship Subraon in 1844 The film reel 2135 would have more info about his parents if you are lucky and is available at state library and some public libraries have copies if they have a family history section   Liz

Hi Debbs,Hi Liz what i did find there was a Thomas Cummins listed in Griffiths regs Thomas is listed in The griffiths as owning land from william DEMPSEY a house and small garden in Kings Offaly 4 acres 1 rood 30 perches land value £3. 0. 0 Buildings £1.10.0 CUMMINS  THOMAS  KING'S  CLONYHURK    There are also Butler Family living nearby So t could be a Possibility that is where from in Kings County (Offaly)   Mike

Mike,  The age on the Thomas CUMMINS on ship Subraon is ten years out from the age which Debbs gave for his birth so not sure if it is him or another with the same name

The film reels might have more info to ID whether it is the correct person

He would only have been a child if he came out in 1842 not twenty years old

i got a bit more information from a cousin she said all she could find was thomas cummins Jr was aged about 20 yrs old arriving as a immigrate on the sobraon in april 1848 his parents were thomas cummins a brushmaker and mary ann butler

from cloghan.kings county  now in australia he married ausgusta warboys he disappeared around 1890 never to be seen again so no death has been found for him which is making it hard to trace his parents etc  we only really have oral history about his parents and where he came from

i need to get to a state library to look at the films bit hard here in qld though if you can help in any way much appreciated

also too she said he may have come from belfast but she is 80 yrs young now and is not sure thou

thanks but my cousin who researched the Family back in 1975 claims that the thomas we are looking for is the same one from 1848 aged 20 it was from there that she got his parents names from the reel but at aged 80 she cant remember where she has put the copy  i am more interested in finding his parents thomas cummins a brushmaker and wife ann butler from ireland

i think i should try and get my own copy and a copy of thomas Jr marraige certificate it may shed some more light on where he actually came from
