Hello again, team,
I wonder if you may be able to help with information about this family, please.
My ggrandmother, Bridget Carey, arrived South Australia 1876, on 'Hesperide'.
Passenger List, Marriage Cert. (S.A.), and Death Cert., state she was born in County Clare, religion Roman Catholic.
Her parents were Martin CAREY and Bridget MCINERNEY. They probably married c1853. One of their children, Martin, is listed on the IGI as baptised, December 6,1864 at Kilmihil, but local church could not find it and suggested trying Ennis, which I have not done yet.
Their other children were Mary Jane b. c1854, Bridget b.c1858, James c1859, Catherine b. C1864, Margaret b.1866, Nora b.1871 and Ellen b. c1874. All born in Ireland, but I do not know where.
Catherine, Margaret, Ellen, Nora and Martin migrated to America, date unknown. Mary Jane, James and Bridget came to Australia. I do not know if their parents migrated.
Thanking you in advance, Merle Collins

Thank you very much Mike. It certainly looks as if you could be on the right track for both the Carey and McInerney families. My grandmother lived well into her eighties and she used to say she came from a long-lived family, so perhaps the Martin and Bridget you found are correct. My Bridget's death cert. states her father was a farmer too. That also makes sense. Some of the family first names you mentioned could also tie up, even though they are not uncommon, but certainly clues. I am not sure what my next step should be now. But it is good to finally have an area to hone in on. So exciting. You and your team are amazing. Merle

Merle i would Suggest that you try contacting the churches around that area.I have viewed a Map and i dont think its to far from Ennis,
Most of the churches are very helpfull.
If you wish to know more on these areas, contact Peter Beirne at Clare Library.
He is a very helpfull guy,He has been helping me over the past 2 years.

The UNFORTUNATE thing at present is there are no records for clare in the Irish Family History Foundation. Its only time before they add.

The only census at present is the 1901 you can find that plus other info at the Clare Library site

If you check out Gower south,You will find that record.
in the Tythe records on the page there are a few Carey Names,That may link up to Martin
