Still trying -with no results Yet..... I am looking for any information on the family of Jesse Mayor/Mayer dob? dod? (chemist at 153 Capel Street, Dublin and lived in the Parish of Donnybrook, at 29 Tritonville Road, in 1839) married Catherine Hancock who died on 14 March 1877 in Arnott Street, Dublin. They had a son also named Jesse and a daughter Jane (married name Heldon), there may have been other siblings. Jesse Married Annette Coskey/Kosky who had a daughter named Edith Maud/May dob 1895, a daughter Nellie and the eldest daughter Annette Emily Mayor dob 15th November 1891 who married a William Kyle (date and place unknown) they had children Thelma Kate, Harold and others, she later married Daniel Spangengberg in South Africa and had more children. There was also a brother Freddy who died in a war, presumably the 1st world war. I am particularly interested in the Mayor/Meyer family born in the 1890's but any info will be greatfully accepted. The following info is on the net:- >Annette Margaret Beresford Mayor Born 1891 Limerick Ireland Death Piketberg Cape of Good Hope South Africa Married Daniel John Spangenberg 1920 Cape town South Africa<
the death dates are correct as is the Spangenberg info but the rest about Annette is dubious,
I really need the birth cert of Annette Emily Mayor dob 1891 - it may be that they went to England prior to leaving for South Africa in (I think) the early 1900's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just checked out something for you in Dublin. Now this is a property that belonged to the Beresford Family. So i do think its Linked to Annette.I do think we May be onto something With the Name Bersford,I think Annette's Mother Was a Beresford. And that is how Her Name comes about. Its possible She Was just born There on A visit As i cant Find Any other Beresfords there Annette Margaret Beresford Mayor Pedigree Female Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: 1891 , Limerick, Ireland Roxboro, Old Carrickbrack Road, Baily, Co Dublin: sold for ? million This stunning Regency villa in a secluded spot on the Howth peninsula had an AMV of ? million when it was brought to auction by Lisney in May. The residence achieved ?million more than its AMV when it sold under the hammer. Roxboro is a six-bedroom villa with up to 445 square metres of accommodation, which enjoys uninterrupted sea views across Dublin Bay to Bray Head and beyond. The property is set on almost 2.5 acres off Old Carrickbrack Road and was built for the Beresford family in 1850. Famous furniture-makers Henry Hicks built the colonial style veranda one hundred years ago. The accommodation includes two reception rooms, a spacious dining room, a large open-plan, country-style kitchen and family room, a conservatory and a playroom. The extensive grounds include mature gardens, level lawns, a lawn tennis court, walled vegetable garden, stables and a separate back gate and driveway. |

From: dzzazz in response to Message 5 Sent: 2007/08/06 12:31 AM Hi, I have the following info from the Griffiths valuation:- Mayor Jessy Irishtown, Tritonville Road Donnybrook Dublin and his wife was a Catherine Hancock who outlived him and died in Arnott Street, Dublin which at that time was the Jewish quarter, her name on the death cert was spelt Meyer. Annette's mother was an Annette Koskey/Coskey who married Jesse Mayor so the Beresford name must come in between these two. The family seem to have had Jewish connections that they did not want known. I hope that this will help. thanks, Ruth |

From: mickym1951 in response to Message 7 Sent: 2007/08/06 01:12 AM Hi Ruth Yes I have A feeling Annettes mother was a Beresford, and thats how the name fits in Annette Beresford. If you look on various site the name appears quite often. But also there were Beresfords in Dublin, as you can see by the Property Mike

Hi, Her mother was Annette Koski/Coskey (spelt Coskey in the Death Cert) so the Beresford must have been the Grandmother. Thanks, Ruth |

Hi Mike, I have checked the records in Dublin and they attended St Peter's Parish (Church of Ireland) as that is where Catherine Hancock-Mayor/Meyer's funeral was held before being taken for burial to Mt Jerome cemetry, some records have unfortunately been destroyed in a flood (including all relating to this family). I have been unable to make contact with the office in Limerick, any help here would be appreciated, Thanks, Ruth. |
