Hi folks, im still searching for my grandfather Hugh Murphy. He died in
1934 aged 45yrs and he was supposed to have a sister called Kathleen who
married Mythen. Ive no idea where they got married but perhaps it was in
the parish of Ballindaggin, Co. Wexford. We think her parents names were
Charles & Margaret Keating. Ive got a copy of 1911 census but no kathleen
on it and i also tried the 1901 census and no kathleen on it although it did
say in the 1911 census that they had 12 children still living. Have tried
parish records to no avail!! I suppose im looking for suggestions & help
please. Thank you.

Fiona

Hi Mike and Co:-), Fiona here again & still looking for my grandfather (hugh
murphy). I've got some info from a friend in US about the Murphy family but
what i am trying to find now is did this family have a brother Hugh - that
could be my grandfathers father. Heres what Teri (from US told me):

Mary Anne Byrne married Patrick Murphy around 1847 (a farmers son from
Castledockrel, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford) and i think they married in
Ballindaggin Church but not sure about that. Im trying to find out if this
Patrick Murphy had a brother Hugh Murphy - which could be my grandfathers
father!! I have been to Castledockrel graveyard, but there are Murphys
everywhere and i spoke to the priest Fr. Lennon and the poor pet couldnt
help me at all.
I know that this Patrick Murphy (Mary Anne Byrnes husband had a family:
Hugh, Denis, Patrick, Elizabeth, Margaret, Kate and Mary Anne. I cant even
get a death date for this Patrick Murphy or Mary Anne (perhaps if i had i
could check for his obituary - they owned a drapers shop here in Market
Square, Enniscorthy Town)

Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated.
Thanks again

Fiona Murphy

Hi Mike, how you doing? Long time no chat:-) Thought i had found grandad
but turns out i was wrong:-( Yes i seen those on the LDS site but im not
sure if Owen was their son, perhaps he was a son of parents with the same
name. I seen that about Mary Ann and i thought it very confusing - all
their children were supposed to be born in Enniscorthy or at least wexford!!
But will look into it. Have just seen Dr Denis Murphy's grave and it
turns out that none of his children were married and all are buried in St.
Marys Cemetary, Enniscorthy (was out there this evening). But i have found
out that Margaret Murphy married a William Long (in Enniscorthy) and
apparently they moved to England, perhaps Kent? Is there anyway that i
could look up the English Census for 1901 for them. The LDS have only 1881
census. Thanks again Mike. Talk to you soon.

HiFran, Id say that is them (not sure tho) will try to get copy of their
birth certs so that might will give me an age (at least they were born after
1864 thank God!! You are brilliant & so quick, i wasnt expecting word back
from you for a few days.
I am strongly thinking of buying the Cantwell Memorials CD ROM - i dont know
if you've heard of Brian J Cantwell, he went around to ALL the graveyards in
Co Wexford, some of Co Wicklow and Dublin and wrote all the inscriptions
down from 1962 - 2005 (his son finished it for him) but the books are
massive and would take forever to go through but apparently there is a
search option on the CD and its only ?0.00 (im not the bank of Ireland but
id have it for life.) I've another clot in my leg at the mo and im finding
it hard to get around, and this CD would be very handy to have and if i
could be of any help to you, Mike, Marian etc with it i would only be to
glad to help:-) Thanks again Fran for the info, i will check for birth
certs on Monday and will let you know - & great being back in touch:-) Talk
to you soon

Love

Fiona x
