At least then it would explain why he wasnt anywhere to be found between 1849 and 1887 when he married Sarah

He was supposedly born county Cork but like you say we would need his birth... ..there is a furthur 3 to 4 weeks wait for the convict records so i will wait till i have them to see if we have the right one

Thanks Mike,I did find this earlier..Alice was Sarahs eldest and she is listed at Alice Rebecca Travey so Sarahs first husband was her father.Now i just have the find the rest of them There was a Billl,James and john Robert ( known as Jack) I have the army records for John Robert  whihc my brother in law sent me although i cannot find a birth or death for him anywhere on the tasmanian archives. and im not sure of the rest...On this he has an Emily Wilson listed as next of Kin but i havent found her anywhere either.Parents deceased...any ideas.?

I also sent and email to a Justine Summers..now she is thegrandchild of Alices' son George who married a kathleen ? and had 4 children,Beverley c1930 Lois c1935 Dec,Raymor and Loris c1938.( if i coud get any of these births that would help..i think born in Tasmania )

I think  Justine( she was aworld famous ballerine apparently)  is the child or grandchild of Raynor..I havent had a reply from her but she was getting married this year to Michael Edgley and has recently had daughetr called Summer Rae...I sawa the article in the New Idea magazine we have here and contacted the publisher and they sent my email on to the journalist who interviewed Justine and Michaelr but no reply so far...

My mother in Law said George ( i found an Alfred George Leonard Summers  b1897 to Alice Heaney) wrote about football for a launceston newspaper and that Loris was a very talented  girl ..ie dancing singing etc and went in many eisttedfords in tasmania and then went to England.She lived in South Africa /nyrobi after that for many years and bred,showed and was an international judge of German shepherd dogs..I have contacted via email the german shepherd dog league here but they have never replied to my emails and my mother in Law hasnt heard from Lorsi in about 10 years as she moved and lost track..It sound slike i have lost to go on but i havent ahd much luck so far tracing the Heaney family.!

Ok debs,If it is correct,i am not sure of years available from the GRO in Ireland for obtaining records.Another option on that is contacting Churches in The cork are to see if a Birth Registration or Baptism

My computer crashed and took EVERYTHING with it so i no longer have your email address...luckily i had the family tree on GR .!! i have just received Arthur Porters convict records but i am no closer to knowing as to whether it is my Arthur Porter or not..It certainly doesnt fit in with the "Family Story" and he was only 5ft 41/2 inches tall in his description as my mother In Law said her Father ..Arthur Porter jnr was quite tall at around 5ft 10 ".This Arthur was a native of East Indies ( and mine was supposdly born in Ireland) so this is the same one as the death i have in 1904 for an Arthur Porter...this is around 5 years later than when my Arthur was supposed to have died but this Arthur was listed as a cook and my Arthur was a cook/chef too....It was on one if the documents i have.A distant relative in England looked for an Arthur Porter in at NA and couldnt find him at all in the crimean war..On the convict records it says he was in the 41st regiment as you know and that he was born in the regiment ....it also describes his complexion as swarthy and my MIlaw said her father AEP jnr had a ruddy complexion so thats different as well.The list of convictions for drunkeness and larceny span from1849 when he was sent here to 1876...My Arthur married Sarah Flack in 1887..

They havent sent me the petiton from his mother Ann Porter though.
