Hi Dee

I've managed to find Charles Robertson on the 1851 census as follows:

Charles Robertson b: 1819 Shoreditch - Head - (Bellows maker)
Mary Ann Robertson b: 1820 St Giles - wife
Mary Ann Robertson b: 1840 Shoreditch - daughter
Charles Robertson b: 1842 Shoreditch - son
Elizabeth Robertson b: 1844 Shoreditch - daughter
Harriet Robertson b: 1846 Shoreditch - daughter
Robert Robertson b: 1849 St Martins - son

Unfortunately the street name has been obliterated on this image.

I have managed to find some birth records for you which I will list below.

Before I list the birth records I've found, I have managed to locate the family on the 1861 census.  The address is the same - number 32 and the Parliamentary Borough is the same - Westminster.  As far as I can see the name of the road is Drury Street!

Here's the information on the family members:

Charles Wm Robertson b: 1819 Shoreditch - Head - Bellows Maker
Mary Ann Robertson b: 1820 St Giles - Wife
Matilda Emily Robertson b: 1858 (no place recorded)
Charles Wm Robertson b: 1842 Shoreditch - son - Bellows Maker
Elizabeth Robertson b: 1844 Shoreditch - daughter
Harrette Robertson b: 1846 Shoredtich - daughter (mistranscript of Harriet)
Henry Robertson b: 1849 St Martins - son (on 1851 this son is recorded as Robert)
Jessie Robertson b: 1854 St Martins - daughter
Robert Robertson b: 1852 St Martins
William Robertson b: 1856 St Sepulchre

My guess is that Henry was perhaps born Henry Robert and listed on the 1851 as simply Robert.  Then then Charles & Mary Ann had another son they actually named Robert.  I have known this happen before - can be confusing!

Now, here are the birth records of the children I could find for Charles & Mary Ann (Bant):

Births Mar 1840   (>99%)
Robertson  Mary Ann    Shoreditch  2 370

Births Sep 1841   (>99%)
Robertson  Charles William    Shoreditch  2 361

Births Dec 1843   (>99%)
ROBERTSON  Elizabeth    Shoreditch  2 432

I've found two records for a Harriet Robertson so will list both - and leave the rest to you!!!  For what it's worth I would guess the first is the correct one!

Births Sep 1845   (>99%)
Robertson  Harriet    Shoreditch  2 368

Births Sep 1846   (>99%)
Robertson  Harriet Matilda Ann    Shoreditch  2 412

I've now found a birth record for both a Henry and a Robert born in 1849, see what you make of it:

Births Mar 1849   (>99%)
Robertson  Henry    St Giles  1 77
(note St Giles is where Mary Ann Bant was born)

     Births Jun 1849   (>99%)

Robertson  Robert    St Martin  1 140

Then I've found a William but not in St Sepulchre (none listed here actually), though St Martin follows from some of the others - it's a possible:

Births Sep 1855   (>99%)
Robertson  William    St. Martin  1a 271

I've also found two Matilda's - one with the second name of Emily:

Births Sep 1857   (96%)
Robertson  Matilda Emily    Holborn  1b 451

the other without but in Shoreditch:

Births Dec 1859   (>99%)
ROBERTSON  Matilda    Shoreditch  1c 153

and finally (though obviously not in the correct order, my apologies!):

Births Sep 1853   (98%)
ROBERTSON  Jessie    St Martin  1a 266

I've also found them on the 1871 census but the names are transcribed either differently - or wrongly!  Here's what we have:

The address is still 32 Drury Lane, Westminster.

Charles Robertson b: 1819 London - Head - Bellows Maker
Mary A Robertson b: 1820 London - Wife
Elizabeth Robertson b: 1844 London
Isaac Robertson  b: 1854 London - son (Note: on the image the age of this individual has been entered under "female" and then crossed out and entered under "male".  Also we have an alternative entry of indeed Jessie Robertson.  I can find no birth record for Isaac so I feel this is an error and should be Jessie).
Louisa F Robertson b: 1864 London - daughter - scholar (see birth record below)
Matilda E Robertson b: 1858 London - daughter - scholar
Robert Robertson b: 1849 London - son - Bellows Maker
William Robertson b: 1856 London - son - Bellows Maker

Here is the birth record I have found for Louisa:

Births Dec 1863   (>99%)
ROBERTSON  Louisa Frances    St Martin  1a 357

Going back to Charles' parents, David Robertson and Elisabeth, I have looked for a marriage record but the only one I have come up with (plus or minus 10 years from 1815) is as follows:

DAVID ROBERTSON Pedigree
  Male   Family

Event(s):
Birth:
Christening:
Death:
Burial:

Marriages:
  Spouse:  ELIZABETH HEWITT Family
  Marriage:
09 JUL 1816   Saint Bride Fleet St, London, London, England

I can't help thinking this would actually fit.

From the 1881 census we can see that Mary was Head of the Household.  A death record for Charles which would fit is as follows:

              Deaths Mar 1880   (>99%)

Robertson  Charles William  61  Strand  1b 512

The details of the 1881 census for the rest of the family are as follows:

Mary Ann Robertson b: 1820 London - Head - Widow - Bellows Maker (E&M)
Robert Robertson b: 1849 London - Son - Bellows Maker
Eliza Robertson b: 1853 St Pancras - Daughter-in-Law
Frank Robertson b: 1876 London - Grandson
Louisa F Robertson b: 1864 London - Daughter
Arthur Oxford b: 1855 St Pancras - Servant
