From: VMC-65 (Original Message) | Sent: 19/08/2008 01:00 | Hello,
Looking for any info on my Great Grandmother JEMIMA STIRLING REYNOLDS also known as Mammie. She was born abt 1886 but I don't know where. I believe she died sometime after 1942. Her Father was William Henry Reynolds,an optician at the time of Jemima's marriage to William Alfred HUNTER (cabinet maker) on 8th June 1906 Tynemouth, Northumberland.
Thankyou in advance for any guidance you can offer:) | |

Hi again Marian,
I have ordered Jemima's birth & death certificates as well as her husband William Alfred's birth cert. (still can't find a death date for him) I hope to put these together with their marriage cert which I have, and see where the information takes me. Once the certs arrive, I'll be in touch - Thanks again for everything you've done to date to help me with this one:)
Warm Regards, Vikki |

Vikki - I had thought this might be the death of your William Reynolds in Morpeth, Northumberland - as in message 7. The age of 59 would be about right since he was born 1856. Marian |

Vikki - I double-checked the reference numbers for that record on Find My Past. It reads: Volume 10b Page 554. You will need this if you are thinking of ordering the cert. Marian |

Sorry Marian - I should have been clearer. The certs I've ordered are for Jemima Sterling Reynolds 1886 - 1944 & her husband William Alfred Hunter 1885 - ?
I thought what I'd do is methodically as possible work my way back. To do this I need as much info as possible hence the reason for purchasing the certs.
I most certainly plan on obtaining the cert you mention but will need to save some pennies before I can:(

That's OK Vikki. The way you are doing your research is excellent. Always prove one generation first, before going back to the next. Marian Manager |

Hello again Marian, I received my certificates today. Unfortunatly, the death record as stated in message 5 is not my Jemima. This Jemima Hunter was married to Robert Berthwick Hunter, a Chemist, who was very much alive at the time of his wife's death. You will remember that my Jemima's husband was William Alfred & he passed away before Jemima. I do think though that it's very possible that this couple on the certificate I have may well be some relation ... I'll just have to work out where & how they fit. Vikki |

Hi Vikki What a shame about the death cert. I did wonder about the area being Westminster, although all the other details appeared to fit in. I will do another search for you. Marian Manager |

Hi Vikki I continued searching the years and quarters and have found this: Deaths March 1966 Jemima Hunter Age 80 Gateshead 1a 1038 What do you think? Could this be your Jemima? Marian Manager |

Hello Marian,
This could well be my "Jemima"! I have just ordered what I believe to be her daughter Flora's birth & marriage certificates. I'm hoping they may give me a little more info about her illusive parents! Once I have them I will ordered this certificate & see where that takes me. Thankyou so very much for all your help ... I certainly couldn't have gotten as far as I have without all the wonderful help I've received since joining this marvellous group.
Warm Regards, Vikki |

Hello Vikki Thank you so much for your kind remarks. It has been a pleasure helping you, and I am so pleased to hear that you have found a new cousin who has helped to put together some more pieces of your "jigsaw". I think we can all identify with that! With very best wishes. Marian |
