In the 1841of Liverpool census Sarah Ward was 35 and born Ireland. Her two eldest daughters Ann age 15 and Martha aged 11 also Ireland. The two younger daughters Sarah 8 and Ellen 4 born Liverpool.

I have Sarah's birth record which show Samuel Ward a mariner as her father.

Sarah is a widow 1851.

I have followed Martha and she only gives Ireland as her birth place. I found Ann married to James Tinson in 1851 census but they disappear after that.

I have found Samuel's death certificate. He died 1850 aged 41 years.

Any ideas how I can find out the location in Ireland the family came from?

Hi Ghiana

I presume you mean that Sarah's husband was Samuel, not her father?  Please could you clarify?

I have found the christening record of Sarah Ward junior 1831 in Liverpool.
Also, two other siblings Elizabeth 1833 and Samuel 1835.

Hi Ghiana

Found these two records for 1837, one of which might be your Elizabeth who was born 1833.  Of course she may have died before 1st July 1837 when records were first compulsory.

Surname  First name(s)  Age  District  Vol  Page
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaths Sep 1837   (>99%)
Ward  Elizabeth     Liverpool  20 254

Deaths Dec 1837
Ward  Elizabeth     Liverpool  20 230
_____________________________________________________________

Also found a Samuel Ward who died in 1840

Deaths Sep 1840   (99%)
WARD  Samuel     Liverpool  20 343
____________________________________________________________

And I think this may be the record of Samuel Ward senior.

Deaths Sep 1849   (>99%)
-----------------------------------------

Ward  Samuel George     Liverpool  20 301
_____________________________________________________________

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for your help.

Samuel Senior born 1809 died in 1850 in Liverpool. He was a mariner.

I only have an Ellen in the census. I have her 1841 1851 and 1861. I haven't looked for a mariage as I am more interested in the family roots in Ireland.

There is no Samuel in the census just the 4 daughters. Of course you could be right that he died before the 1841 census and that is his death record you found.

Have you any idea how I can find out where in Ireland this family came from?

I  have even tried looking for a obit for Samuel Ward died 1850 but there isn't one.

Hi

Please bear with me.  I have only just begun your research.  I just feel that the two children Elizabeth and Samuel could have been siblings of Ann, Martha, Sarah and Ellen as all the details fit -- parents' names, birthdates and birthplace.  But they are your family, so you will know better than I.

Will get back to you again when I have more to report.

Marian
