TRADITIONS

"Now this is the Law of the Jungle--
as old as and true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper,
but the Wolf that shall break it must die"
-Rudyard Kipling,"The Law of the Jungle"

Since the blood of Kain first flowed through our veins, we have held these traditions dear. Though our bonds to our brethren are ties of love, they are also chains, cold as cruel silver, which bind us together for one common purpose. In the night, few will survive alone, but many will survive together.

The Traditions of the Vampyre

The First Tradition: The Becoming

Thy oath to the Vampyre is bound by thy blood and that of thine elders, and thy brothers and sisters. Thou must live by every word of the oath thou hast sworn by, whether thou are neonate, kindred, or elder. By thy sworn oath, thou must follow the written laws and traditions of the Vampyre. Thy oath doth state:

1) I do pledge my heart, mind, body, and undead soul to the family of Clan Vampyre. I do so out of love, respect, and trust in my fellow Kindred.
2) I shall give freely of my time and energy to furthering the goals of the Clan.
3) I swear fealty to Lord Kain and his appointed servants over me, affirmed by all those who I call brother and sister.

The Second Tradition: Thy Family

Thou shalt not betray, dishonor, nor be disloyal to thy family member, nor shalt thou take sides against thy family at any time. Thy family comes first over all others by reason of thy blood. Once thou hast been embraced, thy blood is of the Vampyre family now and forever.

The Third Tradition: Thy Honor

The honor of the clan is thine to maintain at all times. If thou must decide a course of action without word of law or tradition to guide thee, consider thee well what effect thine action would have on the honor of the clan. Thy honor binds thee to any pledge or contract you make.

The Fourth Tradition: Thy Accounting

Those thou create are thine own children. Until thy progeny meet Final Death, thou shalt command, judge, be responsible for, help, and guide them. Thou must use wisdom in thy teaching and leadership, for their sins are thine to endure.

The Fifth Tradition: Destruction

Thou art forbidden to destroy or kill any mortal unless thou canst justify thy action unto thine elder. Unless superceded by Bloodhunt, the penalty for disobeying this Tradition will be swift and certain.

The Sixth Tradition: The Silence of the Blood

Thy nature is that of a beast, a lurker in the night who seeketh out lost souls to feed ravenously. To reveal thy nature to one not of the blood will revoke the oath of thy brethren to protect thee.

BLOODLINES
The lines of the Vampyre are each different and follow both the laws set forth by the justicar of the line and that of the Vampyre as of thee whole. Any Vampyre of any line that fails to meet expectations set forth or follow the bylaws of a line will follow the consequences set forth in the Litany of the Vampyre or of the bylaws of the Line.

The Ventrue

The Ventrue are the honorable, peaceful, yet vengeful leaders of the Vampyre. The Ventrue ranks include warriors, paladins, rangers, and barbarians.

The Tremere

The mystics and magus of the clan. These sorcerers and healers use their magics to further the cause of our family. Clerics and mages are the most prominant members of this line.

The Malkavian

The Malkavian are insane, one and all. From madness, however, comes wisdom, and from wisdom comes power. The Malkavians are true creatures of chaos. They are also known to be dedicated pranksters. A Malkav might have multiple personalities, or be obsessed with keeping the walls of the clan hall painted with blood. Despite their derangements, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Gangrel

The wild and animal side of the Vampyre. Though sometimes uncontrollable and unpredictable, these brothers are deadly and dangerous to those who pose a threat to the Vampyre. Ranks include rangers, barbarians, and thieves.

The Assamites

The shadowy dark side of the Vampyre. The assassins, killers, and thieves of the Vampyre led by a dark master. They hide amongst us waiting.... The ranks are mostly thieves and anti-paladins; however other classes may be admited if they display courage and potential.

VAMPYRE

"But first, on earth the vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent;
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race."
-Lord Byron

The Vampyre Clan of Dark Castle follows the lines and codes of Honor, Honesty, and Fraternity. Among the oldest and most prestigious clans, we feel that values that the Vampyre hold dear , are stronger than and more vital to holding a family together than raw mudding power. Those who wish to join our ranks must also hold these values to the highest respect.

Although the Vampyre have different lines and bylaws,we are bound by our oath and word form the time of our biting ceremony to protect others, be loyal to our clan and ourselves, and love our brothers and sisters of the undead vampyre. Once bitten, we are undead forever.

"Once A Vampyre, Always a Vampyre" -Anonymous Vampyre 1996

The Vampyre mansion is the home of our proud family. Our stronghold from which we reach out to the ends of the world, it is a haven from the dangers of mortal society. Our members hold each other with the highest respect and confidence. For this reason our selection and application process for membership is based on high regards, morals, loyalty, and honor.

Role-playing is at the core of being a Vampyre. All members must develop a unique persona for their character, based on the overall clan theme, the theme of their chosen bloodline, and their personal interest

DICLAIMER: Whilst these Pacts cover activities within Synod endorsed Sanctums, what consenting adults do within their private bedroom chambers is their business so long as it does not bring forth negative results upon the Sanguinarium and the Strigoi Vii. Adherence to this code is expected of all Strigoi Vii and Black Swans whilst in official Sanguinarium Sanctums (sacred spaces) and is not to be imposed upon the greater community or upon those who do not wish to embrace this common sense and logic.

I. Secrets ?Secrets secure, protect, bind and unite us into the foundation of these Pacts. Our Mysteries are our own and those who wish to explore them should seek them out on their own through personal Initiative and Action. As a slight of hand magician would employ the principle of “hidden in plain sight? so shall the Living Vampyre. Honor one’s choice of privacy, for example in regards to their Dayside identity, and never disclose their information without their explicit permission. Inner Mysteries are to be reserved for the formally initiated into the Synod. Public discussion of the Nightside with the media, publicly or with those not of the Blood, is an obvious violation of this tenet. Speak only for yourself, not for the whole of the Sanguinarium.

II. Honor Mundane Law ?Adherence to the laws of our local governments, even if we disagree, is essential to provide us the freedom to explore our Nightside nature. If we disagree with mundane law, we must strive to be individually and socially responsible enough to change them through bureaucratic means.

III. The Metaphor of Blood - Strigoi Vii view Blood as a symbol and metaphor of the subtle life-force better known as Prana. We extend this Blood metaphor also to symbolize the ties of the greater Strigoi Vii Family. We are not Hollywood Vampires who consume physical blood. To satisfy our spiritual hunger we choose other forms of Communion which we find much more efficient and substantiate our Mysteries. This makes a clear avoidance of legal liabilities and health risks such as blood born diseases (Hepatitis, Syphilis, HIV/AIDS, etc.). Strigoi Vii simply cannot endorse blood drinking as we, Living Vampyres, do not need to drink human blood for the purpose of Communion (feeding)."

IV. Responsibility For Minors ?We must honor the need for minors to establish a skeptical, materialistic, objective and rational Dayside foundation before exploring and embracing the Nightside. Those who have not reached the age of majority (eighteen) should not be permitted or encouraged to explore our Mysteries, participate in ritual or enter our Sanctums. Thus no minor shall ever be involved in Strigoi Vii privately or publicly.

V. Civility ?Is the trait of evolved individuals. If you have a problem with another of the Blood, resolve it privately and civilly. Honor and resurrect long lost codes of etiquette as it will show a more refined and empowered presentation within Sanctums and to the mundane. No Living Vampyre would ever physically harm another human for the purposes of feeding.
