At what age do you think girls should have their ears pierced? I see a lot of babies
with it done, seems they don't have a choice... or is the norm nowadays. With body
piercing the latest fashion accessory, where do you draw the line when it comes to...  belly button, lip or upper ear piercing?

Alice had hers done when she was about 6 if I remember rightly.   Our Jue took her for them doing.  Her ears went funny, so I took them out.  She then had them re-done when she was about 9 because she wanted them.  Again they went funny, to the point of them getting a lump on them that the doctors had to remove.  She's pestered me to death at times to have them done again...she's no chance!   When she's left home, she can have whatever she wants pierced and not before then!

Lollie had hers done when she was about 9, her choice, we explained how she would need them looking after etc and that it would hurt for a sec when being pierced. Unfortunately she got an earing back stuck in her lobe and had to go to hospital to have it out. She then decided to let them close up, but has since had them redone with no problems.
I personally dont agree with babies or toddlers having it done, as I think it should be totally their choice.
My personal likes are earings, belly buttons and small nose studs, but dont like nose rings, or things thru lips or tongues

I had my ears pierced at about 13.  My daughter was about 9 yrs old.  My younger sister had her daughters ears pierced at about 6 months (51/2 years ago).  It seems to get younger and younger.  Idon't like to see babies with earrings but pierced ears seems to be neither here nor there nowadays and lots of parents get their childs ears done.
Belly's, lips, upper ears, noses, eyebrows and other bodily parts, are a teenage / older thing and quite separate from a single ear piercing.
Someone I know had a nose piercing and it went a bit septic - he went to the doctors and the doctor said "my wife has one" - he was Indian - he thought nothing of nose piercing.  I suppose any piercing can "go wrong".

Sorcha is looking for her ears to be pierced and I keep putting it off... I think the last time I said it, she had to be eight to get it done and she'll be 8 on Sunday..  She hasn't asked so I'm keeping stum...

I can't wear earrings, I get lumps..

Thanks for your replies Ladies  I think much the same as you do, don't agree with
babies having their ears pierced, it looks stoopid and its dangerous, with regards to having anything else pierced, when your 18

Kayleigh had her ears pierced at about 7, she saved up her birthday money to get it done.  But then she started self piercing.  She took all those out, including her ears because of a reaction with the metal while she was pregnant.  I don't care one way or the other, but I think it should be up to the kid.  I hate seeing babies done.

I'd never had my ears pierced but Lou wanted hers done when she was about 9. When we got to the jewellers she insisted I had mine done first just in case it hurt!

I had all my girls ears pierced when they were a few weeks, but that was more cos it was a family tradition (being part anglo-indian), my ears were pierced when I was a baby, as were my mum's, sister's, aunt's, cousin's and nan's, I had a 2nd hole at 13, a 3rd at 15, a 4th on 1 side at 17, then the 4th on other side at 27!, Robyn has had her ears pierced twice more on each side plus one at the top of her ear on 1 side. I have no objections to ear piercing, except with Byron, if he decides he wants it done himself when he's older, then thats fine, after all Mark has both his ears pierced as well!,  but I wont get it done like I have the girls.
I will not let my kids get any other part of their body pierced until they're 18, then they're old enough to make their own decision!.
