Just listening to the radio this evening and heard that the tsunami hit the coast of Burma but that the government have not asked for any help nor have they allowed any aid agencies to assess the damage or help in any way.

The red cross or some such organisation has limited access to the area and they have recently increased their estimates for those who died from 90 to 1000.

Should the UN send troops and make them take help? I'm afraid I'm not well up enough on politics to know what the government is up to in Burma but it's a military dictatorship apparently so nuff said.

I hadn't heard about Burma Noeleen, another part of the tragedy I think all the people affected should get the help they deserve and need so desperately but as you say, if its a military dictatorship, ordinary folk don't stand much of a chance unless their government says so

I've not heard about it either, it's so terrible what's happening.   I think the UN should intervene on behalf of the people of Burma too.
