What are your views on gay weddings and the new equal rights laws just recently bought into force?

Personally I think its high bloody time that everyone was treated equally and fairly, and that gay people should have the same legal rights as everyone else. I have 2 gay brothers and would hate to think that they wernt able to fully share their lives with the person of their choice.
In my eyes everyone should be respected for who they are and not for who they choose to sleep with. Lollie also agrees with me on this and insists that I add that!

Yep, everyone should be equal!!  No skin off my nose if two men want to marry or whatever, it's their business and I think it's rather lovely!

Well i think the partnership has good points in that it will make same sex couples have a say in monetriy terms and rights if one or the other is ill, being the next of kin.
Prolly in a few years the other half and i will sign the register once we live together , as we would be viewed as a couple and not 2 women living together.
Yes we will have a small gathering including both sides of the families and friends and it will be a celebration of what we mean to each other (and a chance for a good knees up LOL).

The way i look at it is if you get married in a church then thats in the eyes of god. Lots of people these days get married in a registar office so its legal but not so in the eyes of god for what ever reason (a non-believer, been married before etc).  So what if a couple wants to make a partnership be they hetro or same sex , its down to the indivudal and i for one am glad same sex couples will have the right to a legal cermoney or contract like hetro couples can have.

its all about showing and celebrating love for another human being with friends and family being present so they can share in a comitment that 2 people make to each other.

I'm not completely sure if it is legal over here but I do know it is only a matter of time...  There are many area's of the law that needs to be upgraded over here. I heard recently of a woman I know who was living with a man and they had a child. He died suddenly and she got fooked out of the house with their daugher cause his older kids had more rights then she did....  so I am delighted that same sex couples have been afforded a right under the law to be recognised as a couple....

Can't wait for the knees up Dizzy...

Well I just happened to be in the City Hall the other day picking up my marriage lines when the other couples were having the first same sex ceremony.  If people want to show their love and commitment for each other then that's their choice and I don't htink the law should stop them.  There are much worse things in this world to worry about.
I only know one same sex couple and thats Dizzy and Tracey, and I have to say they are no different in any way from the rest of my friends so why should the law been allowed to make a difference...so its about time many laws were looked at better!
