do you think that Kids should start school at 6 or 7 years old and stay there until they are 19 ish

Also would you prefer kids to go to school at 7am until about 1pm??

I think our kids would learn to read and write far quicker if they just left it til they were 6 or 7 to start.  I believe younger children should learn through play and not have the worries of school life until they are more mature.  Children's lives should be mostly play until they are about 7 and even then it is still so important.

I personally feel the majority of children are ready for school, the structure and social side as much as anything from about 5 years old. I work with infants, and can honestly say there are very few kids that I've seen that arent ready for school at 5. I agree with Jo that learning through play is vitally important. I definately wouldnt like the 7am to 1pm thing though. During the day when the kids are at school is my time to clean, go out, catch up with mates etc. And no way am I getting up at 5.30 to get them there!

i think they should do less hours in the day but go 6 days, that would work better cause by 1pm my kids have had enough and nothing goes in after that!!

Here they go to nursery in the school until they are six and then start school properly. The hours they do are to be changed to 9-2 every day until they are 12 then its 8-2. I think this works really well as they have plenty of time in the afternoon for play, homework etc and as it gets hotter its better for them too.

Here our kids start Junior Kindergarten in the year they turn 4, then Senior Kindergarten the year they turn 5, although both years aren't mandatory, they legally have to start school the year they are 6 (grade 1) I think JK is great for some kids, others not so much. Our kids all went to 1-2 years of nursery school before JK as I wanted them ready for school, some were more home bodies and only needed 1 year. As for the times, in JK and SK run either morning or afternoon, Monday through Friday for about 2 and a half hours. The older grades go from 8:45 till 3:15. Our school is part of a pilot project which has 2 long "nutrition breaks" instead of a lunch and 2 recesses. Somedays I think they are there too long, some days they could stay longer, LOL. I think that our summers need to be shortened though, they have 9 weeks off and thats wayyyyyy tooo long, I think 4-6 weeks would be plenty.
