It's a message board for kids age 12 to 16 and to be honest I was more then a little disturbed by it. God only knows what sort of pervs are hanging round it. Would you let your child join an open group like this? |

I was shocked....really! There is no restriction on who can use the site - how easy it would be for anyone just to go along and organise a date with one of these kids! I would never let Emily join in anything like that. The only group I would let her join is the Good KIds Group here, because it is totally private, and can only be joined by GF-GT kids. I know it is run by people I know and trust, who I see everyday, who I know do their best to keep all of it's members safe. I certainly wouldn't let her join an unrestricted group, especially on to look for dates.....christ only knows who half of these people are. If a group is aimed at under 16, MSN should make it compulsory to have restricted access, whatever the group is for. |

So was I Noeleen, in fact I have sent feedback expressing my concerns to MSN! In fact I was just having a browse, there are nearly 20,000 sites to join aimed at teenagers and younger kids In view of the fact that MSN took the view to close public chatrooms last year to protect children amoungst other things, I am appalled that so many site, monitored or not are allowed to operate! On the question, would I allowe my children to join..............No no way!! Rosemary x |

Good on you Grey..... I just wondered tho if the police and the like surf these board too. I saw a programme recently on Irish TV and it's about Irish people being in the police force in America. In one episode, this bloke pretended to be a fourteen year old girl and stitched this bloke up and arrested him.... |

hi i am a new member and the site you found has shocked me i am a mum of 2 girls and i would be horrified if i found out they were selling them selves like that and allowing them selves to be open to any weirdo thats why i liked the look of this group because you made your opening speech sound really friedly and a big friendship group but after all this moaning i don't know how chat rooms can make over 18's only that room was for 12 to 16 and there was a young man openly saying he was 18 and of course all of us that have discussed i know i am definatly over 18 but i could have replyed WILL OUR CHILDREN EVER BE SAFE mine are 4 and 5 years but a parental lock is already in my mind for the future kate |

I got a reply in the end! This is what I sent............... Web Page Cited: http://groups.msn.com/teenagedates1216yearoldsonly
UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; FunWebProducts)
Remarks: I have belonged to some community groups for some time and often browse the groups listings. I was rather concerned to come across the above group today and the possible vunerability of some of its members. Now I am sure that you monitor groups for their content and behaviour, but as a responsible parent of young children, I would be appalled if they tried to join a site like this! I'm sure group participants do all they can to maintain their privacy and I assume chatrooms are monitored by a responsible adult?? In view of the fact that (rightly so) you took the decision to disallow general chatrooms last year regarding child safety that this site is being allowed to operate.
I have no problems with young children and teenagers chatting online or severly restricting their access, my own children are supervised whilst online, nevertheless I have reservations about the "ages" of some members of this particular site!
I'm not wishing to make a complaint about this or asking for this group to be taken off, merely reporting my own opinion as a responsible parent This is their reply.............. Hello Rosemary,
Thank you for writing to MSN Groups.
We will follow-up on your report and take appropriate action. Thanks for your support of MSN. We hope you'll pass along other thoughts and suggestions as you use the service.
Sincerely,
Hera MSN Groups Customer Support and this is the result! Hmmm, We Can't Find that Page... | | The page you're looking for might have been moved or deleted. Well done Grey, I should think so too. I noticed the other day also that to obtain a passport is not as easy as it was. An adult has to verify thier age using a credit/debit card, and then once the passport for the child is set up the adult has to set permissions for what they are allowed access group wise or for messenger. Damn good idea too. |
