am I so ANGRY today? I can't seem to get myself out of the bad humour I either woke up with or got into very early on. I'm snapping the heads off my work collegues, was very curt to Gary on the phone and generally feeling very tense. I gave the pill up a couple of months ago. Is this the reason why? I got my last period on 14/1/2005 so not due until next week sometime. I feel like I'm ready to explode and I do not want to be like this when I get home cause I absolutely ate Aoife this morning and I do not want a repeat! What can I do? in the short or long term? HELP! |

I agree that it sounds like PMT.. birth control pills actually reduce significantly the amount of PMT a woman might go thru each month. I've started taking two herbal things but not sure if you can get them there or not. My husbands best friend is an internest and he recommended the first one.. its called DHEA here's a link to some information: it has helped me QUICKLY not to be so tense, edgey and chaotic but defo check with your own doctor cause there can be some side effects (I only take 25 mg in the morning, no side effects yet and its been 4 weeks) the second is 5HTP here is a link to it: I take both every morning, and the second 5HTP at night for more restful sleep among other benefits (I'm an insomniac) hope these will help you hun .... love to you! |

see if your hubby will let you chill more often when you're feeling stressed.. learn to walk away when you're feeling like you're going to explode.. talk to your children and tell them what's going on.. I told aoife and she was perfectly ok with everything after that.. it helps drink chamomile tea and try not to drink too much coffee or tea as it just agitates the nervous system, thus making it harder to stay in control |

You've got some good advice here, sorry Noeleen, I'm not much help either, my hormones never worked properly anyway, (I do suffer now but menopausal symptoms though) but I do know (having spoken to my sister, who suffers really badly) that when you come off the pill, it takes a couple of months or so for your system to right itself and bang, you can get PMT symptoms like you've never had before, she says its like being under a black cloud and nothing can lift you! for you my woman, sounds like you need a trip to the docs, even if its just to check your hormone levels and speak to Gary and the kids, tell them how you feel and that its not always their faults I'm sure they'll understand, you rant and rave as much as you like here though, none of us will be offended |

Oh mate, I'm neither use nor ornament to you on this one...I'm like that 365 days a year. Sorry to hear you're feeling like this though. I'd go see the docs and ask if it's down to you coming off the pill, see if there's something they can give you to counter it. I hope you're feeling loads better today hun. |

I feel so much calmer today... Thanks girls... I don't want to go back on the pill to be honest so I'll see how this goes.... If it's a 24 hour special once a month then maybe we can handle it! |

Glad to see you're feeling better today. I've heard too that the pill can tone things down a bit and it can be a bit different after coming off of it. About 10 days before a period I go wierd and say things that are just so wrong and feel guilty afterwards too. Sometimes i tell myself to shutup and STOP. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ calm vibes, calm vibes. You've got a lot going on really, 3 youngsters, lodger, full time jog - that's more than enough for anyone and you're allowed to be a bit "out of sorts" some days. |

I only just saw this Noe, I suffer something awful with PMT for about a week a month. It sucks! Evening primrose or starflower oil are meant to be good. And also eating little and often as your sugar levels are prone to be a little more erratic at that time of the month, hence the reason why a lot of women cant stop eating at before and during their period. Low blood sugar can cuase irritability. I also warn Kev and the kids to give me a wide birth and ignore the insane ranting that come's out of my gob! A nice hot soak with loads of bubbles and a drop of lavender oil works wonders to as does a short walk out in the fresh air. Hope you feel better and that it settles down for you. |
