Curtesy of RTE news *

*Spanish police are continuing to question an Irishman about the death of his wife at a holiday villa near Alicante, on the Mediterranean coast.

The woman, who was in her 20s, is believed to have suffered injuries.

It is understood police found the woman's body after they were alerted to an incident at the Marinda Oasis holiday complex south of Alicante early yesterday.

The couple's three children, aged one, five and eight, were also said to have been in the house at the time and were taken into care.

It is understood the family were on a two-month holiday at the villa and had spent a number of summers there in the past.

The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that the incident is being investigated and that a man is now being questioned.*

I heard this on the new this morning and my heart went out to the poor children. Witnesses in the complex say the couple had been drinking heavily and argueing. I can only assume the children witnessed their father beating their mother to death as it was reported this morning that she was severly beaten. Several police had to restrain him and he had to be sedated after arrest.

My immediate reaction is that they are scum who came into money illegally, drugs etc. What other couple in their 20's can go on a two month holiday?????

Apparently they won't release the body until the trial is over and that could take up to two years. Her poor family, they spoke out about him and said he was an absolute bastard. He was forever beating her up, got her into drugs etc. She wanted to come home cause she was running out of methadone and that was what the arguement was about... so I hear...
