What did you do at school today?

Well Monday arrived complete with 15 children plus lunchboxes / dinner money - no Brett today.  We got them all sorted and children sat on carpet for register.  So we did our morning prayer, followed by the register, which they all answered perfectly, even Katie (progress!) Then came the dinner register.  Now.. when you are only 4 and staying at school all day for the first time, then whatever you are having to eat is a school dinner - right?! Eventually I got through to them that if they had brought a lunchbox, then they were a 'packed lunch' and if they had brought dinner money, then they were a 'school dinner'.  Fine, except Ellen's sister had her dinner money, so she wasn't sure what she should be! Finally we got the numbers in the register to tally with the number of lunchboxes on the shelf!  So on with our morning's work... at about 9.15 they started - 'Is it lunchtime yet?' - 'No not til after we've been out to play.'  We went out to play, came back in, had fruit and they started again - 'Is it lunchtime yet?' - 'No, you've only just had your fruit, you can't be hungry yet! Wait until the big hand gets round to the 10 and then we will start getting ready!' So lunchtime eventually arrived, I had ordered a jacket potato and tuna, so as to sit with the children as it was their first day in the big dining hall with all the other noisy kids.  They only had about 20mins to eat their lunch before the even noisier juniors started piling into the hall - Catherine eventually finished ALL of her lunch after 50 mins  She was duly dispatched to the playground and I dashed upstairs to the loo and grabbed a cup of coffee to take back down with me - wonder what the union would say about a 5 min lunch break lol.  By the afternoon they were all shattered, and a new question started as soon as they set foot insode the door - 'Is it time to go home yet?' - 'No we need to do some singing and some painting and go back out to play and have another story first!' Eventually we made it to the end of the day!

Tuesday was a strange day for me - I was on an ICT course all day, but dying to get back to the children, who were at the mercies of a supply teacher!

Wednesday I heard all about the supply teacher and what they had been up to with him.  It didn't sound like they'd had too bad a day.  Brett was back for the first time and at about 9.10 he started 'Is it time to have our lunch yet?' - Deja Vue!  In the afternoon we were very brave and attended infant assembly for the first time!

Thursday and Friday came and went with no major events, other than that the children were incredibly tired by the ends of the afternoons!
