Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan comes from the Cree 'kisiskaciwan' meaning swift flowing river. Entered Confederation in 1905. Bordering Manitoba and Alberta (east/west), north Nunavut and south USA. Landlocked but it is estimated over 100 000 lakes, rivers and streams.Summer can see 25°C, while winter can drop as low as -21°C.

• Flag - The flag was adopted on Sep 22, 1969. It is half green (forests) and half yellow (wheat). The green portion is the shield from the coat of arms. The British lion and three wheat sheaves. The western red lily, is depicted on the other side of the flag. The Shield was granted on August 25, 1906.
